Domestic Terrorism, White Privilege, And Trumpism

Should the events of January 6th be attributed to Trumpism, white privilege, or domestic terrorism?

First things first. For far too long, America has had a penchant for labeling violent acts by Muslims and other black or brown people as “terrorism” — while designating similar acts by whites as mere “protests” or “uprisings.” So, let’s call it what it is: Terrorism is terrorism, regardless if it’s foreign or domestic or conducted by black, white, brown, or green skin.

With that said, let’s discuss the domestic terrorism of 1 week ago today and why Trumpism and white privilege were the engines behind the egregious acts.

Donald Trump has garnered a god-like status among a significant portion of the country. But, why? Did he cure cancer? Did he fix homelessness and hunger? Did he unlock the key to world peace? NO! So, what is it so great about Donald Trump that has his minions willing to give their lives just to keep him in power?

The answer is incredibly black and white (pun intended). It’s white supremacy!

When Donald Trump came into power, he talked the talk that white supremacist groups such as the Proud Boys and others had been dying to hear. He gave permission for middle and upper-class White-Americans to have Black friends by night but pass funny little racist emails around at work by day. He even became the face of white male resentment. Despite white males running EVERYTHING and having IT ALL, somehow, they were still not satisfied and fearful of losing their place in society to someone black or brown.

Yes, these groups needed a white savior on a white horse to come along to empower them and stop the “browning” of America. They never wanted that “Black” president for 4 years, let alone 8 — and now, here comes this “Black” WOMAN named Ka-Mala (they always botch her name and never correctly call her Kama-La) who will be a heartbeat away from the presidency as the vice-president.

If white supremacy was the illness, then Trumpism was the cure. During his first days in office, ‘The Donald’ banned Muslim visitors from coming into the US. He told those dirty Mexicans and others south of them to stay away and on the other side of his proposed “beautiful” wall. He took the term “White” House literally and made his cabinet and staff as white as the driven snow. He brought in white separatists Steve Bannon and Stephen Miller and allowed open flashes of the white power hand sign to become the norm in photos taken at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

Whites under Trump had it made. White males under Trump were once again at the top of the food chain. He made America great again… by turning the calendar back to a time when whites ruled the world and everybody else knew their place.

And then, the November presidential election happened.

Donald Trump, the “god” of White America, lost. Suddenly, whites saw their VIP status slipping away — to a Black vice-president and a cabinet loaded with black and brown faces. And WOMEN, too.

Because racist white privilege gave birth to Trumpism, domestic terrorism was the next logical step for the privileged White Americans who saw their gold cards inside Trumpism rapidly slipping away.

It was that mentality that boiled over and led to the events of January 6th. It’s the reason why once respected members of the military, off-duty cops, elected officials, doctors, and lawyers joined forces with Capitol Hill police and current members of Congress (according to Stop The Steal organizer Ali Alexander) to stage an attempted coup and commit domestic terrorism just to keep their white “god” and their white status in power.  It’s the reason why a group claiming to support the constitution and the concept that “Blue Lives Matter” threw all of that away for their own selfish agenda.

Ahh, the power of white privilege. This is the crowd that was always awarded a trophy even when they didn’t win or barely tried. Or, to use a current metaphor, this is the crowd that can get arrested for domestic terrorism, but throw a tantrum in jail until they are fed an exclusively organic diet (such as with MAGA rioter Jacob Anthony Chansley).

John Pavlovitz put it best:

These people have been the most heard since they were born—since this nation was first founded on genocide, erected on colonialism, built upon slavery, and maintained by racism. They have always had a voice, always been catered to, and never been marginalized in any true measure—which is why losing an election now feels like some horrible systemic wrong that is that last straw in a fictional pile of injustices they have had to carry and could no longer. Their violence was not a desperate cry for justice, it was a spoiled toddler’s tantrum with deadly consequences.

Folks, these are not patriots standing up for what’s right. These are a bunch of spoiled, white crybabies who were told “NO” when their side didn’t win and didn’t like it — who then followed their King crybaby (who’s also not used to hearing “NO”) down into the depths of hell. All for the sake of white privilege.

So, when asked if the events of January 6th should be attributed to Trumpism, white privilege, or domestic terrorism, the answer should be clear. It’s ALL OF THE ABOVE. Because today — 1 week after one of America’s darkest days in history — white privilege, Trumpism, and domestic terrorism are all one and the same.
