Donald Sterling Is Digging For Dirt

LA Clippers owner Donald Sterling just won’t go away quietly into the night.  Not only has the embattled owner backed out of a sale of the NBA franchise to Microsoft’s Steve Ballmer, but now he’s digging up dirt on NBA owners and executives in hopes of publicly humiliating them.

Sterling is peeved at the $2.5 million dollar fine and lifetime ban the NBA hit him with, following racist comments he made to ex-girlfriend V. Stiviano.  Sterling wants both of the punishments rescinded and until he gets his way, he intends to play hard ball (pun intended).

At the 11th hour, Sterling backed out of the $2 billion dollar sale of the Clippers to Steve Ballmer, opting instead to hire a team of high-powered private investigators to dig up as much dirt on other NBA owners and executives as they can find. Each firm has 30 days to uncover whatever ammunition they can get their hands on and Sterling has offered them $50,000 each for their services.

The former attorney and still current Clippers owner hopes to dig up private conversations and memos from other NBA owners who may have made similar racist statements as he did, then make the case against a double standard. Sterling believes if he can present concrete evidence that other owners and executives made similar remarks, he can convince the NBA that either everyone should be fined and banned for life, or that he should not be singled out and his punishment should be rescinded.

"What do you think of Donald Sterling's antics and latest tactics?"

Not much.

But frankly if he ends up being a long-term problem for the NBA it will, IMO, serve the NBA right for embracing this guy for 30 yrs no matter how reprehensible his actions.

The NBA, (from the NBA Commissioner Sterling and now Silver) to the Clippers GM, coaches and even players, who have worked for the guy over the years all knew about him. And, other than take his money……

…they did Nothing.
