‘Conservative radio show canceled after host wishes for ‘nice school shooting’ as impeachment distraction’

A Denver radio station has canceled a conservative talk show after one of its hosts on Wednesday wished for a “nice school shooting” to interrupt the media coverage surrounding the impeachment proceedings against President Trump.

Chuck Bonniwell, a conservative radio host, made the remarks during 710 KNUS’s “Chuck & Julie” afternoon program. After noting the “never-ending impeachment” of Trump, Bonniwell joked that “you wish for a nice school shooting to interrupt.”

Julie Hayden, his wife and co-host, immediately interjected, telling Bonniwell, “Don’t even say that.”

“No, don’t even say that. Don’t call us. Chuck didn’t say that,” she added, prompting Bonniwell to try and walk back the statement by saying he wouldn’t want anyone to “be hurt.”

Just hours later, 710 KNUS Denver released a statement saying that the radio show had been canceled following Bonniwell’s “inappropriate” remarks. […] – The Hill, 12-19-19

Evangelicals aren’t finally waking up. They voted for Trump in 2016 knowing full well who, and what, they were voting for. And the majority of them will vote for the guy again in 2020. But it sounds like a few of them..A FEW of them…have finally had enough. They seem to love their country more than fighting for the tribe. But time will tell if even the smallest crack in support is real.

NEW YORK (AP) — A major evangelical Christian magazine founded by the late Rev. Billy Graham on Thursday published an editorial calling for President Donald Trump’s removal from office.

The editorial in Christianity Today — coming one day after the Democratic-controlled House of Representatives made Trump the third president in American history to be impeached — raised fresh questions about the durability of his support among the conservative evangelicals who have proven to be a critical component of his political base.

The magazine’s editorial, written by editor-in-chief Mark Galli, envisions a message to those evangelical Christians who have remained stalwart Trump backers “in spite of his blackened moral record.”

“Remember who you are and whom you serve,” Galli’s editorial states. “Consider how your justification of Mr. Trump influences your witness to your Lord and Savior. Consider what an unbelieving world will say if you continue to brush off Mr. Trump’s immoral words and behavior in the cause of political expediency.”
