‘DON’T ASK, DON’T TELL’ IS DEAD!

WASHINGTON, DC - DECEMBER 22: U.S. President Barack Obama (C) signs legislation repealing military policy law during a ceremony December 22, 2010 in Washington, DC. Speaking to military soldiers during a recent visit to Afghanistan, President Obama received a hug from one female soldier, who whispered to him a very special message: “Get ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ done!”  The president promised her that he would.

Yesterday, President Obama kept that promise. With a few strokes of the pen, “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” was officially declared dead, ending decades of prejudice and bigotry aimed at banning gays from serving openly in the military. It was an historic moment that gay and lesbian Americans, particularly those who have or are currently serving the country, have been waiting a lifetime to witness.

I couldn't be more pleased!  I appreciate the President for signing the Repeal into law.But he gets absolutely NO credit from me for fighting to end it.The truth is, he left the heavy-lifting to others and I hope THEY get the recognition they deserve for all of the Time and Effort they put into ending that sham of a policy.
