Dr. Jack Cassell, a urologist from Mount Dora, FL posted a sign on his office door telling patients who voted for Obama to “seek urologic care elsewhere.” The sign went on to read, “Changes to your health care begin now, not in four years.” Cassell said if people see the sign and leave, “so be it.” Hmmm…
Cassell is a registered Republican who practices in a predominantly conservative community in Florida. He has placed numerous pamphlets in his waiting room displaying Republican messages on the health care plan and now his sign raises questions about the line between free speech and medical responsibility. According to the Medical Board, technically Cassell isn’t breaking any laws, but his views are certainly morally unethical. Perhaps Cassell needs a reminder that doctors should be healers and helpers, not judges who pick and choose individuals by a chosen candidate or their political affiliation.
