Thank you for your kind words, Truthiz1. I prefer to switch up the Friday topics from the grit of politics, etc. to something more enjoyable as a kick-start to the weekend.

Although the Casper Co. is very likely (and wisely) using their nap bar as a marketing tool to sell mattresses, the concept of a nap bar in NYC is nothing new. Other nap bars also exist in Manhattan that are not at all connected to a mattress company and are reportedly doing good business. I guess New Yorkers with their hectic schedules really do need time to nap during the day.

And based on the quick-glance research I did, that’s pretty much what it is. Suffice it to say it ain’t for me but hey…if there really is a market out there for this…well then carry on. 🙂

“I tried to fall asleep in the Dreamery, Casper’s new nap bar”

Excerpt:
…the Dreamery is fundamentally a way to grow brand awareness–what *Parikh calls “building community.” It goes something like this: A passersby might drop in and decide to take a nap, even just for the novelty of it–and as a result, they try Casper’s products. If they have a good time and enjoy the space, maybe they’ll think of the company the next time they need a mattress. […] – Katharine Schwab, writer at Fast Company.com

Full disclosure: As a young child, I grew up taking naps. We (my sibs and I) didn’t like it one bit but my mother was a BIG believer in having her little ones shut it down for a few hours in the afternoons, especially thru the week, during the hours her favorite shows were on (All My Children and General Hospital)…Lol.

Funny thing is -a much as I hated to take a nap as a kid, I really like naps now..and do so when I can..Lol
