Entertainers Just Say No
To Trump Inauguration
Donald Trump and his team are busy planning a star-studded inaugural bash to celebrate his shocking ascension to the presidency. The only problem is, nobody wants to play with “The Donald.” No actual star wants to be there!

When it comes to entertainers, it’s deja vu all over again for “The Donald,” who promised a cavalcade of star power at this summer’s GOP convention — only to roll out has-been child actor Scott Baio and a guy from the reality TV show “Duck Dynasty.” Now, Lady Luck is bypassing Trump once again by threatening to make the biggest party of his life one big, fat dud.
Proving that the old saying “You reap what you sow” is not just mere words, the Trump team finds itself between a rock and a hard place in planning a party fit for a president.
Soon after Trump’s surprise win, calls went out to some of the industry’s top entertainers. Elton John, Mick Jagger and The Rolling Stones, among others, were all offered top dollar to perform for a planned weekend of events for the Trump’s and their cronies. Just like at the GOP convention, each and every performer came back with the exact same answer: NO THANK YOU!
Interestingly, the Trump team was so convinced Elton John would fly in from England for what Trump allegedly was planning to be a night celebrating LGBT rights, that they let it slip in the press the singer was signed, sealed, and delivered.
Anthony Scaramucci, a member of the presidential transition team who has referred to himself as a gay rights activist, used an appearance on the BBC show “HARDtalk” this week to pump up the Trump inaugural festivities.
“This will be the first American president in U.S. history that enters the White House with a pro-gay-rights stance,” Scaramucci said of Donald Trump. “Elton John is going to be doing our concert on the mall for the inauguration.”
However, Fran Curtis, the publicist for Sir Elton, promptly issued this strong denial to the press: “Incorrect. He will NOT be performing.”
The same can also be said for a growing number of A-list celebrity entertainers, who have gone on record as having absolutely NO interest in performing with, at, or near a Donald Trump event.

In contrast, President Obama’s inauguration was lauded by such stars as Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Beyonce, Bruce Springsteen, Jennifer Hudson, Jon Bon Jovi, Shakira, John Legend, and a host of others. To date, it looks like Trump’s very short list of willing entertainers includes Ted Nugent, Loretta Lynn, and Kid Rock — none of whom are publicly confirmed but did at least support his candidacy.
The odd belief that Trump could somehow miraculously secure a performance by Elton John was a long shot at best. Not only has Sir Elton been a longtime activist (as the founder of the Elton John AIDS Foundation) and very vocal supporter of Hillary Clinton, but he has also been an outspoken critic of Trump.
In an interview with the news site Mic last month, Sir Elton said the possibility of a Trump victory made him “fear for the world” when it came to helping raise awareness of and spurring activism for treating and curing H.I.V. “He’ll marginalize people; he’s already doing it,” Mr. John said.
When told that his hits “Rocket Man” and “Tiny Dancer” were among Donald Trump’s favorite music, Sir Elton John was not at all swayed to change his mind.
“I’ve met Donald Trump, he was very nice to me, it’s nothing personal, his political views are his own, mine are very different, I’m not a Republican in a million years,” he said, adding “Why not ask Ted fucking Nugent? Or one of those fucking country stars? They’ll do it for you.”
Oh well, Donald… it looks like karma really is a bitch!
Elton John: “Why not ask Ted fucking Nugent? Or one of those fucking country stars? They’ll do it for you.” In all seriousness, why ISN'T Ted Nugent the headline entertainer for Trump's inauguration?! Ted is certainly among Trump's biggest fans. They have so much in common…like Racism. Bigotry. Xenophobia, Vulgarity. But I digress. Elton is also dead on when ti comes to country music stars. In fact, it's been reported (online) that Garth Brooks spoke to TMZ and said "he’d be open to singing at President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration next month." Btw- Garth Brooks actually did perform for Pres. Obama's inauguration "marking that historic win." But back to Trump's inauguration………. Kanye West had stated that he would have voted for Trump (if he had bothered to vote at all). I wouldn't be surprised if Kanye accepted an invite to perform. And I certainly wouldn't be surprised if a number of… Read more »
