Entertainers Just Say No
To Trump Inauguration
Donald Trump and his team are busy planning a star-studded inaugural bash to celebrate his shocking ascension to the presidency. The only problem is, nobody wants to play with “The Donald.” No actual star wants to be there!
Entertainment
When it comes to entertainers, it’s deja vu all over again for “The Donald,” who promised a cavalcade of star power at this summer’s GOP convention — only to roll out has-been child actor Scott Baio and a guy from the reality TV show “Duck Dynasty.” Now, Lady Luck is bypassing Trump once again by threatening to make the biggest party of his life one big, fat dud.
Proving that the old saying “You reap what you sow” is not just mere words, the Trump team finds itself between a rock and a hard place in planning a party fit for a president.
Soon after Trump’s surprise win, calls went out to some of the industry’s top entertainers. Elton John, Mick Jagger and The Rolling Stones, among others, were all offered top dollar to perform for a planned weekend of events for the Trump’s and their cronies. Just like at the GOP convention, each and every performer came back with the exact same answer: NO THANK YOU!
Interestingly, the Trump team was so convinced Elton John would fly in from England for what Trump allegedly was planning to be a night celebrating LGBT rights, that they let it slip in the press the singer was signed, sealed, and delivered.
Anthony Scaramucci, a member of the presidential transition team who has referred to himself as a gay rights activist, used an appearance on the BBC show “HARDtalk” this week to pump up the Trump inaugural festivities.
“This will be the first American president in U.S. history that enters the White House with a pro-gay-rights stance,” Scaramucci said of Donald Trump. “Elton John is going to be doing our concert on the mall for the inauguration.”
However, Fran Curtis, the publicist for Sir Elton, promptly issued this strong denial to the press: “Incorrect. He will NOT be performing.”
The same can also be said for a growing number of A-list celebrity entertainers, who have gone on record as having absolutely NO interest in performing with, at, or near a Donald Trump event.

In contrast, President Obama’s inauguration was lauded by such stars as Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Beyonce, Bruce Springsteen, Jennifer Hudson, Jon Bon Jovi, Shakira, John Legend, and a host of others. To date, it looks like Trump’s very short list of willing entertainers includes Ted Nugent, Loretta Lynn, and Kid Rock — none of whom are publicly confirmed but did at least support his candidacy.
The odd belief that Trump could somehow miraculously secure a performance by Elton John was a long shot at best. Not only has Sir Elton been a longtime activist (as the founder of the Elton John AIDS Foundation) and very vocal supporter of Hillary Clinton, but he has also been an outspoken critic of Trump.
In an interview with the news site Mic last month, Sir Elton said the possibility of a Trump victory made him “fear for the world” when it came to helping raise awareness of and spurring activism for treating and curing H.I.V. “He’ll marginalize people; he’s already doing it,” Mr. John said.
When told that his hits “Rocket Man” and “Tiny Dancer” were among Donald Trump’s favorite music, Sir Elton John was not at all swayed to change his mind.
“I’ve met Donald Trump, he was very nice to me, it’s nothing personal, his political views are his own, mine are very different, I’m not a Republican in a million years,” he said, adding “Why not ask Ted fucking Nugent? Or one of those fucking country stars? They’ll do it for you.”
Oh well, Donald… it looks like karma really is a bitch!
Elton John:
“Why not ask Ted fucking Nugent? Or one of those fucking country stars? They’ll do it for you.”
In all seriousness, why ISN'T Ted Nugent the headline entertainer for Trump's inauguration?! Ted is certainly among Trump's biggest fans. They have so much in common…like Racism. Bigotry. Xenophobia, Vulgarity. But I digress.
Elton is also dead on when ti comes to country music stars. In fact, it's been reported (online) that Garth Brooks spoke to TMZ and said "he’d be open to singing at President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration next month."
Btw- Garth Brooks actually did perform for Pres. Obama's inauguration "marking that historic win."
But back to Trump's inauguration……….
Kanye West had stated that he would have voted for Trump (if he had bothered to vote at all). I wouldn't be surprised if Kanye accepted an invite to perform. And I certainly wouldn't be surprised if a number of (mostly) country music artists end up agreeing to do the same.
Poor Donald spent so much time insulting everybody he could, did he really think folk would forget all that and do whatever he said when he wants them? Of course entertainers don't want anything to do with him. Some of the Cleveland Cavaliers said today if Trump invites them to the White House they are not going. And Trump said he could bring the country together?? Yeah right.
What type of entertainer would want to be part of the worst! Canidate Amrrica has ever had, whom is not in any way apprppriate for this incredable honor. I am a woman, a mother, a teachrr, a faith based person, a volunteer for AIDS patients and a and most importantly an American ( 70 years of devotion to my country)
forgive my typo errors Arthritis!
So it has effected both your fingers and brain!
On a somewhat related note……….
I'd like to get this off my chest.
This whole thing just does NOT seem real to me. It feels like some really BAD theater being played out…on a national and international scale. And the Puppet Masters (the powerful elites who actually run this country) are playing Us all (the American people and perhaps even Trump himself)…for fools.
Something just does not feel right to me. And frankly, over the past several months, I've thought more and more about George Orwell's novel "1984." And I've given at least as much thought to Joseph Goebbels, Hitler's Minister of Public Enlightenment and Propaganda.
I have not watched even 1 second of cable news since election night. Watching cable news, for me, had already been cut to a minimum since the 2008 presidential election race. After watching cable news media give a creature such as Trump over $2 billion dollars worth of free media to promote unbridled Hatred, division and ignorance, I've come to the conclusion that I can no longer trust most of the American news media. I consider cable news, in particular, to be mostly a propaganda tool for the Puppet Masters and they have no allegiance at all to the "good of country." Their allegiance is to themselves. To amassing more money and more power.
And as such, I consider most (not all – but most) of American new media to be as dangerous of a national security threat to this country as any other national security threat we may ever face.
While I agree with you on the media to a certain respect I see what you've written in a polar opposite. CNN, MSNBC, The Washington Post, NY Times and Time magazine were so blatant in there bias for Hillary and Obama it was obscene. Hate was and is demonstrated by sad faced Dems since the election. There weren't riots after Obama was elected. The liberal democrats and liberal media has kept this hate and division going. As far as media being a security threat I 100% agree, but is it any less threat than Hillary as SEC of State or an Obama administration letting terrorists into our country unvetted. There are immigrants who try to come here 'legally'. Maybe that process should be easier but to open our borders to mass groups without vetting and bypassing those who are in the process of getting citizenship correctly is not right. Funny how are views can be the same fit so different. I felt that Trump was a poor chose but Hillary was far worse, that is how he won. The fact that republicans can admit that but democrats don't see what a horrible candidate she was scares me the most. Jobs will hopefully come back, healthcare will get better and hopefully some good Supreme Court justices will be appointed in Trumps one term then Pres Pence or Cruz or Rubio can carry on the continue to heal a country that was divided long before this election but during the last 8 yrs of what I view as our second worse president ever! Nobody could be worse than Carter!
Are you serious?? You are really going to sit there and say Obama is second worst president ever? So you're going to skip over Richard Watergate Nixon? Or George W Iraq war Bush? Or his father George read my lips Bush Sr? I know a lot of people don't like Obama because he's black and I've learn to accept that. But don't call him a bad president just because you don't like him personally. From day one Repubs pledged to just say no to everything he would ever try to accomplish. But even with them purposely blocking him from the get go he still managed to stay above things and didn't let their pettyness ruin his presidency.. Plus no scandals, no mistress, no corruption no nothing. Him and his family have been the model presidential family. Unlike Trump who cheated on every wife with the next wife, and grabs women's p*ssy and whose wife has naked pictures all over the internet.

Hi Ben…and thanks for your response.
I disagree with some of your key points…but I very much appreciate the Civil manner in which you expressed them. We greatly value Civility and Independent thinking around here.
If I may address just a few of your points………..
Ben5114:
CNN, MSNBC, The Washington Post, NY Times and Time magazine were so blatant in there bias for Hillary and Obama it was obscene. […]
I'm inclined to agree with you a little but only as it relates to Pres. Obama. However, no way ANY man running for the office of President would ever be held to the type of sexist standard that Hillary was subjected to.
Btw- most regular readers of this site know that I am no fan of either Bill or Hillary Clinton. IMO their smug arrogance -believing they don't have to play by rules – has always been their Achilles heel. Add to that, the fact that Hillary was indeed a horrible candidate and most of her campaign staff was as smug and as arrogant – made her chances of wining the Presidency anything but a slam-dunk. But I digress.
On any given day the American news media fixated on Hillary's supposed lack of every *womanly* quality known to human-kind, as if she was running for Miss America NOT President of the United States. Then that same media had the gall to try to the American people felt that Hillary came across as acting "too manly" for the job. WHAT!?!?
Ben5114:
Hate was and is demonstrated by sad faced Dems since the election. There weren't riots after Obama was elected. […]
I'm sure you know the difference between sadness and Hate. I can't speak for those who chose to riot after the election. Suffice it to say I did not – and would never- condone such a thing.
But also I will never forget that during the entire 8 years of Obama's Presidency as sizable population of (mostly) white Americans chose to express their hatred for the man primarily because he's Black. And for the past 18 months leading up to this election, their nasty, vile and racist screed was given LOUD voice by a fella named Donald J. Trump with over $2 billion dollars worth of of FREE media from the American news media.
Okay. One last point to address. Your wrote: I felt that Trump was a poor chose but Hillary was far worse, that is how he won. [….]
Um. Not exactly. Hillary was a poor candidate but even with her flaws she's head and shoulders ABOVE Trump. And in the end, the majority of American voters chose HER over Trump by casting over 2 million more votes for her than him.
Trump won the electoral college. Not even close to the majority of votes.
Thanks again for the exchange.
Very well said ……
