FAITH LEADERS DENOUNCE ISLAMOPHOBIA
Leaders from various faiths and religious beliefs have come together to collectively speak out against rising anti-Muslim sentiment within America.
The coalition of spiritual leaders included a rabbi, a Catholic priest, a Quaker, several Protestant ministers and a Muslim leader. Among the speakers was Rev. Walter Cuenin, the Catholic chaplain at Brandeis, who said very simply: “Let’s not do to them what was done to us.”
With the 9th anniversary of 9/11 fast approaching and Pastor Terry Jones in Florida planning to burn the Quran in a fit of protest against Islam, religious leaders believe it is important to join forces and speak out against such hatred now before it is potentially too late.
