If anyone was wondering if Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis is a pushover, is in a bit over her head, or is potentially inept when it comes to the law during the biggest case of her career, one needn’t wonder any further.
Top News Today :
It’s too bad (for him) that House Judiciary Chair and Republican Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio had to learn that lesson the hard way. However, the Donald Trump/MAGA sycophant and Republican busybody has been busy licking his wounds all weekend after mistakenly crossing Fani Willis by attempting to underestimate her, her knowledge, and her abilities to do her job.
In a brazen effort to meddle in the Georgia indictment of Donald Trump, Jordan thought he could use his congressional credentials to help ‘The Donald’ get the best of Fani Willis and outsmart the Black, female prosecutor in Trump’s favor. So, he launched an investigation and ordered Ms. Willis to provide his office with details of her use of federal funds regarding the Trump indictment. He also demanded that she reveal if she had any conversations with the Justice Department or special counsel Jack Smith (who indicted Trump in separate cases for stealing classified documents and for attempting to overturn the 2020 election).
Needless to say, Fani Willis was not the least bit amused with Jordan’s playground game and whipped up a fiery 9-page response that likely left the congressman dazed and dismayed.
“Allow me the opportunity to provide a brief tutorial on criminal conspiracy law, Chairman Jordan,” her letter began. She then made clear that she could see through his “offensive” act “to obstruct a Georgia criminal proceeding and to advance outrageous partisan misrepresentations.”
“Your attempt to invoke congressional authority to intrude upon and interfere with an active criminal case in Georgia is flagrantly at odds with the Constitution. … There is absolutely no support for Congress purporting to second guess or somehow supervise an ongoing Georgia criminal investigation and prosecution,” Ms. Willis said.
Next, she scolded Rep. Jordan for attempting to place Donald Trump above the law and help him avoid the consequences of his actions.
“Those who wish to avoid felony charges in Fulton County, Georgia … should not commit felonies in Fulton County, Georgia.”
She was just warming up.
Apparently operating from the assumption that the House Judiciary chair must know less about how the US government works than a 3rd grader, Ms. Willis took Jordan to school.
“As the Supreme Court has explained, ‘the Executive Branch has exclusive authority and absolute discretion to decide whether to prosecute a case.’ Congress, in contrast, is barred by precedent from using investigations for ‘law enforcement purposes.’ You have thus violated the basic constitutional rule that ‘the power to investigate must not be confused with any of the powers of law enforcement; those powers are assigned under our Constitution to the Executive and the Judiciary’.”
She then suggested that if Jordan wanted to make himself useful, he should “consider directing the USDOJ to investigate the racist threats that have come to my staff and me because of this investigation” and that she would not “be bullied and threatened by Members of Congress, local elected officials, or others who believe lady justice should be blind and that America has different laws for different citizens”
Oh, but in the conclusive pièce de résistance, Fani Willis laid down the law to Jim Jordan. Literally.
“It’s clear that you lack a basic understanding of the law, its practice, and the ethical obligations of attorneys generally and prosecutors specifically,” she said. “For a more thorough understanding of Georgia’s RICO statute, its application, and similar laws in other states, I encourage you to read RICO State-by-State. As a non-member of the bar, you can purchase a copy for two hundred forty-nine dollars [$249].”
Ouch!!!
In a near-universal response, political pundits have continuously applauded Fani Willis for her “spicy” retort.
“Fani Willis could’ve simply ignored Jim Jordan. Instead, the prosecutor explained to the Judiciary Committee chairman that he doesn’t know what he’s talking about,” MSNBC editor Steve Benen tweeted.

“Fani Willis sends Gym Jordan to the showers,” laughed conservative attorney George Conway.
“Fani Willis to Jim Jordan: ‘Bless your heart,'” wrote Lawfare reporter Anna Bower.
So, to anyone still wondering, let the record show that Fani Willis is not playing games. She has made it crystal clear that Donald Trump and his minions would be smart to keep out of her affairs and never underestimate her abilities or knowledge of the law.
