Far-Right Fuming Over Marjorie Taylor Greene
The far-right is having an absolute conniption fit over Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene and it doesn’t look like it’s going to end well.
Politics :
Controversial congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene (MTG) of Georgia was once the darling of the conservative far-right and Trump/MAGA movement. She was known for being a regular thorn in the side of House GOP leadership as well as for her attention-seeking, Joe Biden-bashing, public and political antics that mimicked the “I-Don’t-Give-A-Damn” shenanigans of one Donald J. Trump. She was also responsible for shouting “Liar!” at President Biden during a State of the Union Address. For a while, she could do no wrong (in conservative eyes) and was even the subject of whispers as a potential vice-presidential running mate for “The Donald” in 2024.
However, that was then and this is now.
In an effort to be taken more seriously among her congressional colleagues and to rise among the ranks within the Republican Party, Marjorie Taylor Greene has changed.
She courted favor with Rep. Kevin McCarthy during his contentious campaign to become House Speaker. She provided public backing for McCarthy’s recent debt limit deal with President Biden. She supported the decision to allow only a select group of conservative journalists to see unreleased January 6th tapes (instead of releasing them to the public as the right-wing wanted). She’s even toned down her whacko MAGA rhetoric with attempts to sound more “mainstream” and actually sane (in exchange for receiving high posts on congressional committees).
Needless to say, the conservative far-right has had it up to here with Marjorie Taylor Greene and has begun publicly stating she’s no longer a martyr for their cause. Or, to put it bluntly, they’re out for blood.
Within the past few weeks, conservative groups began using misogynist attacks to mock the recent divorce of MTG from her husband of 27 years — even going so far as to claim she’s not a “wholesome Christian mom.”
Last week, former Trump administration official-turned-podcaster Steve Bannon called for Greene to be ousted in the next primary by a more right-wing candidate who is “REAL MAGA.”
Others have since chimed in.
“I 100% support a challenge to MTG and look forward to meeting and helping a serious challenge to her,” far-right ally Stew Peters said.
In an interview with The Daily Beast, conservative activist and former Florida congressional candidate Laura Loomer announced she’s already exploring a primary against Greene as an act of revenge.
“She took a job from me when she publicly accused me of being crazy…and told Trump not to hire me,” Loomer barked. “I think it’s only fair that I get a shot at taking her job, too.”
“You know what Donald Trump always says? An eye for an eye,” she added.
Fellow whack-job and former friend, Rep. Loren Boebert of Colorado also turned her back on MTG.
“I’ve been aligned with Marjorie and accused of believing a lot of the things that she believes in,” Boebert said while making it clear that those days are done. “I don’t believe in this, just like I don’t believe in Russian space lasers, Jewish space lasers, and all of this.”
In her hey-days, Marjorie Taylor Greene was once the poster child for the crazed and Trump-led far-right of the Republican Party. Now that she’s attempting to remake her old image in order to seek political advancement, her former MAGA pals are out to take her down by any means necessary.
OK WASSUP! discusses Politics:
The far-right is out to get Marjorie Taylor Greene
They’re all treasonous whackjobs and venomous snakes.
Let them fang each other to death (politically speaking).
Daily Beast:
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, the controversial House Republican from Georgia, blasted Steve Bannon and other far-right figures in a series of messages to Rep. Matt Gaetz, according to texts obtained by The Daily Beast.
Greene texted Gaetz she is “done” with Steve Bannon, the former Trump advisor who now hosts the “War Room” podcast, after he and others criticized her for supporting House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and voting to raise the debt ceiling.
“Steve and I aren’t patching things up,” Greene texted to Gaetz, per the Daily Beast. “And if he keeps coming after me, I’ll take the house and kids.” She added, “I hope you’ll pass this along to Steve. Because I’m over it.”
Greene has taken increasing amount of flak from the far right as she’s gotten tighter with leadership. She used to be an outsider who voted against McCarthy for Speaker and lost her committee spots due to past comments supporting conspiracy theories. This year, she backed McCarthy, got her committee roles back, and voted for the debt ceiling bill.
Greene has also sparred recently with some members of the House Freedom Caucus. She got into a Twitter tiff with Rep. Chip Roy over the debt ceiling vote. Rep. Lauren Boebert and Greene were former allies but reportedly had “nearly a screaming match” in a bathroom shortly before a floor vote in January.
Her shift towards the GOP establishment has put her in the crosshairs of far-right figures who used to be her fellow travelers.
Why she is trying to recreate herself I do not know. But nobody can forget the trailer park trash she has always been no matter what she does.
Now all a sudden she fell out with Matt Getz and Lauren Boebart because she is trying to be better than them. Give me a break.
