Yesterday, Darren Wilson testified for nearly 4 hours in front of a grand jury of 7 men and 5 women. Although authorities could have charged Wilson themselves by filing a criminal complaint, St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Robert McCulloch chose instead to present the case to a grand jury, allowing them to decide if the officer should be indicted or not.
According to sources, Wilson has been “cooperative” in his 2 conversations local and federal investigators. A civil rights case is currently under investigation by the U.S. Justice Department.
Grand jury proceedings are traditionally secret and not open to the public. This has irked Michael Brown’s representatives, who accuse local prosecutor Robert McCulloch of being too cozy with law enforcement. They question his commitment to pressing a case against Wilson, who is white, for the shooting of a young black man.

Brown supporters are demanding that Wilson be arrested, charged and jailed for shooting the unarmed teen while his hands were up. Wilson supporters are insisting that the officer only fired after the much bigger Brown struggled with and then lunged at him. Which side is right?
A grand jury will soon decide, with a ruling expected before October.
