Donald Trump has professed honor and devotion for the American flag and all it stands for. Is his alleged allegiance a bunch of BS?
Current Events
Upon news of the death of Sen. John McCain last Saturday, Trump lowered the White House flag to half-staff in his memory. However, the flag was back to its full position by Monday morning. Additionally, “The Donald” scraped a prepared statement he was to deliver in honor of the late senator and refused to even utter the name “McCain” when pressed by members of the media.
So, what gives?
Donald Trump has been engaged in a political and personal feud with John McCain for several years — a feud that apparently didn’t end with the senator’s death. Reports are that Trump was also seething mad at the news that McCain left explicit instructions for Barack Obama and other former presidents to speak at his funeral, but for Trump to NOT be allowed to attend.
Although Trump broke no law by raising the flag only 2 days after McCain’s death, proper protocol for previous dignitaries dictates that he should have waited until the interment. Further, flags around Washington and across the country remained lowered in McCain’s honor, while Republican luminaries and public figures from both sides of the aisle have spoken glowingly of the late senator since his passing.
Trump was the odd man out and his actions made him look petty. However, little did he know that he was also being hypocritical.
Donald Trump called it a “national disgrace” when black NFL football players chose to kneel during The National Anthem. According to him, their actions were disrespectful toward the military veterans who fought, bled, and died for America’s flag. However, Trump somehow convinced himself it was OK to play petty with the American flag toward John McCain, an honorable military veteran and former prisoner of war.
If Trump can do what he wants with the flag when it involves a person that concerns him (McCain), why can’t black football players do what they want with the flag when it involves an issue that concerns them?? Further, why were the NFL players’ actions not acceptable toward military veterans, but Trump’s actions totally acceptable toward a military veteran who is widely considered a national hero???

DJ, I get your question completely. And if I may? I’d like to modify it a little to read:
Further, why are NFL players’ Peaceful protests against Police brutality of unarmed Black males considered as “disrespecting the flag” and military veterans but Trump’s actual misuse of the flag in his very public attack against a true American war hero is considered acceptable?
The question, of course, is rhetorical. It’s pure White-racist, hypocritical BS. Trump cynically peddles that garbage to mask his own character deficiencies and insecurities and feed his supporters.
All of America knows it.
