And I have to say, from what I’ve seen and heard thus far these kids appear to be VERY determined to bring about REAL change. They’ve already demonstrated they are incredibly articulate and very well spoken!

I’ll 2nd BD – for the first time I’m actually beginning to feel a little Hopeful that maybe just maybe, “some change can really happen” because I believe their voices ARE being heard all across this nation and their message is resonating with many millions of Americans.

IF they can remain Focused, United have STAYING power to bring about Substantive gun reform FOR GUN SAFETY this may be that pivotal moment that sparks it all.

In other words, Goliath may be up against David(?) But again….We. Shall. See.

Like Truth said this is not going to be a easy fight. But if anybody can change things it’s the youth who are fighting for the life and have power to vote all the gun lovers out. To be honest this is the first time I feel like some change can really happen. Nothing this important comes easy. Plus I heard Oprah and some other celebrities have donated almost a million dollars to these kids for the march they are planning next month.

David Hogg has become a strong voice among survivors of the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.

The attention has given him a powerful platform — but it has also made him the subject of smear campaigns and demonstrably false conspiracy theories.

Either he has been “coached” by his father, a former FBI agent; or he is a “pawn” for anti-gun campaigners; or, the most far-fetched, he is not a victim but a “crisis actor,” paid to travel to disaster sites to argue against stricter gun laws.

“I’m not a crisis actor,” Hogg told CNN’s Anderson Cooper on “AC360” Tuesday. “I’m someone who had to witness this and live through this and I continue to be having to do that.

More and more guns are increasingly owned by a smaller percentage of Americans.

And of course THAT disturbing fact explains why the NRA fights like H*ll to block ANY and ALL reasonable GUN-SAFETY measures, when it comes to purchasing firearms, including high-powered assault weapons. The NRA is bought and paid for by the Gun Manufacturing Industry (GMI).

Gun manufactures SEE their market continuing to shrink so they’ve become more despicable, over the years, employing the NRA, right-wing talk radio and Fake Noise to continuously SCARE the H*ll outta gun-buyers in that shrinking market (especially the gullible, weak-minded, fake-alphas and nihilists) to keep the money coming in.

And cynical and corrupt elected officials in BOTH parties are bought and paid for by the NRA to do the bidding of the GMI.

Goliath. And evil and wretched son-of-a-gun.

But gun purchases, as measured by FBI firearm background checks, are at historic highs. And data from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms shows that gun manufacturers are churning out record numbers of guns. Many gun rights advocates argue that these figures mean that the overall number of gun owners is growing: If more guns are being sold, more people must be owning guns.

But the declining rates of gun ownership across three major national surveys suggest a different explanation: that most of the rise in gun purchases is driven by existing gun owners stocking up, rather than by people buying their first gun. A Washington Post analysis last year found that the average American gun owner now owns approximately eight firearms, double the number in the 1990s.

Other research bears this out as well. A 2004 survey found that the average gun owner owned 6.6 firearms, and that the top 3 percent of gun owners owned about 25 guns each. More recently, a CBS News poll taken in March of this year found that roughly 1 in 5 gun owners owned 10 guns or more. […] -Washington Post, June 29, 2016
