Florida + Texas = COVID Catastrophes

Spread The Love

Whenever there’s bad news concerning the COVID crisis, one usually needn’t look any further than the states of Florida and Texas.

Current Events
The governors of Florida and Texas are 2 staunch, Trump-loving Republicans who have proven they will risk life and limb just to appease Donald Trump by defying mask and vaccine protocols and keeping the pandemic a divisive political issue.

Florida 3
Gov. Greg Abbott

Gov. Greg Abbott of Texas has been a devout disciple against mask and vaccine mandates.  He has allowed his state to operate “willy-nilly” with an “anything goes” attitude toward the virus and has repeatedly refused to adhere to any safety protocols from the CDC or any other leading science or medical professionals.  Additionally, Abbot was so adamant against health measures for his state that he took his fight all the way to the US Supreme Court just so he didn’t have to follow the rules.

Now, Gov. Abbott has COVID.

“The governor has been testing daily, and today was the first positive test result,” a statement released on Tuesday said announcing his diagnosis. “Governor Abbott is in constant communication with his staff, agency heads, and government.”

So, instead of simply following measures to prevent getting the virus in the first place, Abbott will now receive monoclonal antibody treatments (similar to what Trump received following his diagnosis), which should preclude him from getting very sick.

Like Abbott, Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida has also defied mask and vaccination protocols as a political weapon.  And, like Abbott, DeSantis chose a “magic fix” against COVID instead of a more simple method of prevention.

Florida 3
Gov. Ron DeSantis

Last week, DeSantis announced that instead of requiring Florida residents to wear masks or get the vaccine, he will deploy a rapid-response team to race across the state and administer monoclonal antibody treatments to any resident infected with the virus.

“This is the most effective treatment that we’ve yet encountered for people who are infected with Covid-19,” DeSantis said. “This, applied early and properly, has the ability to reduce your likelihood of being hospitalized.”

So, DeSantis would rather spend tens of thousands of state funds to send medical units across the panhandle instead of recommending a basic one-dollar mask for prevention.  Hmmm…

Also in Florida, DeSantis’ refusal to require schoolchildren to wear masks is already creating a community catastrophe.

It’s only the first week of school in Florida and already 20 school bus drivers have walked out on the job.

The drivers quit because they didn’t want to be locked inside a school bus with dozens of screaming kids whose governor refused to require that they wear face masks on the bus during the ongoing COVID crisis.

“Some of the factors for our bus drivers, for them personally, were concerned about students not wearing masks,” said Robert Spicker, spokesperson for the Lee County school district.

Apparently, some drivers asked the children to wear masks while on the buses in the interest of safety, but the parents threw a hissy fit after finding out someone dared to ask their children to play it safe.

“Unfortunately, they often take the brunt of a parent’s frustration when the doors open and that just drives them away,” Spicker added.

With the antics in Florida and Texas leading the news, we may never reach herd immunity or overcome the COVID crisis.

I never wished it for him but Abbot getting COVID is poetic justice. The same goes for DeSantis. I don’t wish it on him but if he gets it…Oh well.

And here’s what really gets me about any of these dangerous azz clowns………

As soon as they’re diagnosed with COVID they can’t beat a hasty path to the doctor or hospital fast enough, seeking the best medical treatment available, to save their own sorry lives.

CNN: As the Delta variant drives a surge of Covid-19 cases in Florida, a rapid-response unit will be deployed to administer monoclonal antibody treatments to residents infected with the virus, Gov. Ron DeSantis said Thursday. “This is the most effective treatment that we’ve yet encountered for people who are infected with Covid-19,” DeSantis said. “This, applied early and properly, has the ability to reduce your likelihood of being hospitalized.” Monoclonal antibodies are intensely focused, lab-made versions of convalescent plasma. The antibodies come from people who have recovered from coronavirus. Researchers then take the blood, select the most potent antibodies, and make them into a drug. Speaking from Jacksonville, DeSantis said beginning at noon Thursday, the rapid response unit will begin delivering monoclonal antibodies in the city. The process will begin with referrals from the health systems, but the state is looking to move to allowing individuals to make appointments, he… Read more »

MSNBC just reported that Abbot actually had received a 2-shot vaccine AND a booster shot…PLUS he was getting tested daily…but he still got COVID.

IF this information is true then it only confirms my distrust of the efficacy claims that have been made about these vaccines – as well as reaffirms my decision to NOT consider getting the so-called “booster” shot anytime soon if ever.

Mr.BD

He got it because the virus keeps changing itself. They made the vaccine last year sometime but covid grew into other strains since then like the flu does. The good thing is if you are vaccinated you will not get as sick or die like you would if you are not vaccinated. But if we want to beat this thing we are probably going to have to keep getting a booster until all these unvaccinated people get the shot or die off and stop spreading it.

Mr.BD

My grandmother use to always say what goes around comes around. Desantis and Abbott have been playing with peoples lives and now it has come back around. Karma always catches up.

CNN: Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, despite being fully vaccinated, announced on Tuesday that he has Covid-19 Even as that news was rippling through the state, the legal fight between Abbott and local officials over the state’s ban on mask mandates raged on. Yes, you read that right. Even as Abbott was testing positive for Covid-19, his administration continued to work to keep local jurisdictions from requiring people to wear masks. And all of that was happening as Texas continued to be one of the hotspots in the 4th spike of the coronavirus. The state reported more than 25,000 new cases on Tuesday and is now averaging more than 15,000 cases a day, according to data from The New York Times. Cases are up 44% in the state over the past two weeks. Hospitalizations are up 65%. There’s a lesson in all of this for Abbott — although he’s unlikely to… Read more »
