Follow The Money: The Colossal Trump Con
If you’ve been wondering why Donald Trump is continuing to refuse to concede and fight on despite insurmountable electoral odds, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out his true angle: follow the money.
Politics
Granted, hurt feelings, a bruised narcissistic ego, and the threat of jail time for a life of crimes are all valid reasons why ‘The Donald’ is pressing his “Stop The Steal” post-election campaign. However, as with most things involving Donald Trump, if always about him and all about The Benjamin’s.
Since losing the election, Trump established the Official Election Defense Fund and has been actively accepting donations from his MAGA fanatics in what was supposed to be an effort to count the votes fairly. Too bad for the MAGA’s, but they’ve fallen for yet another Great Trump Con.
According to The Washington Post, “Donors are giving to the Trump Make America Great Again Committee, where contributions are split between Trump’s committees and the RNC.” However, the extremely small print on the donation page reveals that 60% of all donations will go directly to Donald Trump himself to help pay-off $1.2 million in campaign debt, while the other 40% will go to the Republican National Committee to pay salaries and more.
So, in other words, small donors who donate believing they are helping to pay for an election recount effort are actually footing the bill to personally help Trump cover his massive campaign debt.
Follow the money.
The news of Trump’s flim-flam “bait-and-switch” donation con is nothing new. In fact, Forbes is reporting that ‘The Donald’ has been regularly shifting money from his donors to his personal businesses.
The president accepted $38,000 in rent last month through Trump Tower Commercial LLC, the entity that owns his Fifth Avenue skyscraper. Since Trump took office, his campaign has paid that company $1.5 million, more than any other property in the Trump empire, according to an analysis of federal filings. The Republican National Committee also coordinated with the campaign to pay Trump Tower Commercial LLC an additional $225,000.
So, just like those cheap con artists who play on people’s emotions and dupe them into donating money for some bogus cause via GoFundMe, Trump is using the same formula to play on MAGA voters’ anger at losing the election in order to make a few bucks off their blind allegiance.
Follow the money!
