Free For All As States, Businesses, Beaches Reopen

Spread The Love

A veritable free-for-all occurred all across America this week as several states, businesses, and recreational facilities reopened for business.

Current Events
On Monday, the governors of Arkansas, Alaska, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Texas, and Oklahoma set off a free-for-all by deciding that despite 1.1 million COVID-19 cases and more than 55,000 deaths in America (with that number growing by the day), it was better to grant citizens nice hairdo’s and manicured nails than to save their lives.  Gov. Brian Kemp of Georgia got the party started last Friday, while the other states followed suit and allowed barber shops, beauty shops, nail salons, bowling alleys, beaches, and other “essential” businesses to reopen and act as if the coronavirus never even existed.

Free For All

Interestingly, the free-for-all extended beyond just the GOP red states that followed King Donald Trump’s lead.

In Colorado, several barbershops across the state saw businesses in other states reopening and decided to play “Monkey See, Monkey Do!” by defying state stay-at-home orders and going back to business as usual.

“I’m not a person that will live in fear and I speak for myself. I know my team is not a team that will live in fear either,” said Jose Oregel, owner of The Bar.Ber.Shop in Greeley.

When CNN’s Gary Tuchman asked a young, white, male customer why he wasn’t wearing a mask while in the barber’s chair, the young man said he didn’t need one because he’s not in any of the “high-risk” groups.

“Sometimes I think about stopping and showing them one of the empty body bags I have in the trunk. ‘You might end up here. Is that worth it for a haircut or a hamburger?’” – Michael Fowler, Coroner of Georgia

In California, Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom was livid after seeing images of throngs of crowds on Ventura and Orange County beaches this past weekend amid a west coast heatwave.

“I cannot impress upon you more, to those Californians watching, that we can’t see the images like we saw, particularly on Saturday in Newport Beach and elsewhere, in the state of California,” the governor said. “Those images are an example of what not to see, people, what not to do if we’re going to make the meaningful progress that we’ve made in the last few weeks extend into the next number of weeks.”

free for all

Officials in Georgia joined Atlanta’s Mayor Kecia Lance Bottoms in denouncing the reopening of various “vanity” businesses in the Peach State.

“Sometimes I think about stopping and showing them one of the empty body bags I have in the trunk.  ‘You might end up here.  Is that worth it for a haircut or a hamburger?'” Georgia coroner Michael Fowler said.

Naturally, Americans are stir-crazy from 40+ days of stay-at-home orders all across the country.  However, there’s something vitally important those who are taking to the streets as if a deadly virus is not still actively killing people by the day are not realizing:  no one has the power to simply wish the virus away, no matter how hard they try.  In the words of Dr. Anthony Fauci, “The VIRUS will decide when it’s time to reopen.”

So, for all those who broke their necks to participate in this week’s free-for-all reopening of various businesses across the country, their hair and nails are going to look fabulous once they’re in a medically-induced coma with a ventilator tube down their throat, or worse, in a casket.

Unfortunately, I believe -for many if nor most of those people- seeing empty body-bags would have little-to no effect at all.

They say “a picture is worth a thousand words.” That picture above -showing throngs of Americans mindlessly frolicking about on a crowded beach in the middle of deadly viral pandemic -tells you all you need to know about a certain population of Americans – people who truly do NOT give a d*mn about anything or anyone, including themselves or their loved-ones.

The coming weeks will give Us a clearer picture of the actual size of that American population.

On a related note, maybe seeing rows of Coronavirus DEAD bodies inside body-bags would have an impact on a few people. A few people. ‘Top New York City doctor takes her own life after working on coronavirus frontline’ [Dr Lorna Breen, medical director of New York-Presbyterian Allen Hospital’s emergency department, died of self-inflicted injuries on Sunday, police said. The 49-year-old died in Charlottesville, Virginia, where she had been staying with her family. In a statement, the Charlottesville Police Department said Dr Breen succumbed to self-inflicted injuries after being rushed to UVA Hospital on Sunday evening. The 49-year-old’s father, Dr Philip Breen, said she had described devastating scenes of the toll the coronavirus took on patients. Chicago police cite homeowner for crowded weekend house party in viral video after Mayor Lori Lightfoot says, ‘It goes against all the things we’ve been talking about’ during COVID-19 pandemic

[Chicago police said they cited a Northwest Side homeowner with disorderly conduct on Monday following a crowded weekend house party that drew nationwide {and international} condemnation after video surfaced of attendees packed shoulder to shoulder in violation of social distancing rules.

The citation came on the same day as Mayor Lori Lightfoot blasted the large party, which to her looked like “hundreds” of people standing “literally cheek to jowl.”

“It goes against all the things we’ve been talking about,” Lightfoot said at an unrelated news conference. ]

Mr.BD

Truth I read about that and got steaming mad. Then I saw the picture and got madder still. I thought my hometown had more sense than that. But they were up there acting like a virus is not even out there. Did you see the pic? Some of them fools came with masks but was wearing it around their necks instead like it was some kind of addition to the outfit. Why even bring a mask if you are not going to wear it. I’m done.

Truthiz1

BD, my babysis lives in Chicago and she is beyond livid about this! My whole family is!

And we’re just as *done” with Blacks who are out there acting like this virus is nothing, no matter where they live. It’s incredibly reckless, asinine and insane.

Mr.BD

I hate to say this but people are stupid in general. Folks have been dying by the thousands left and right and yet these clowns are concerned about what their hair and nails look like?? Where are they going to where what their hair look like even matters?? These fools are playing with fire then they are going to be the first ones crying and begging the Lord to save them once they get sick. Take care of your own d*am self and protect the people around you. There is no excuse for this type of ignorance.

“There is no excuse for this type of ignorance.”

You got that right. None whatsoever!

Georgia’s CoVID19 tally, since reopening nail, hair, and tattoo salons, on Friday :

As of Monday ( 4/27) at noon, there have been 23,773 confirmed cases of the coronavirus, 4,433 hospitalized and 942 deaths, the Georgia Department of Public Health released in its daily report. Since Saturday (4/25) at noon, that is an increase of 1,078 new cases, 107 hospitalized and 38 deaths. Deaths comprise nearly 4 percent of confirmed cases in Georgia.

Truthiz1

Wow! I’m just seeing this!

This sh*t is crazy. An increase of over 1,000 NEW cases in literally no time at all.

And there are dumb fools out there who still think this virus is a joke!?!
