The miracles for Rep. Gabrielle Giffords just keep on coming.
After sustaining a gunshot wound to the head during a failed assassination attempt on January 8th, Giffords is making incredible rehabilitation progress. Earlier this week, her husband, astronaut Mark Kelly, announced he believes his wife will be well enough to attend his launch of the Space Shuttle Endeavor in April. Now there are reports that Giffords is regaining part of her ability to speak.
“It’s very good news,” Giffords’ spokesman C.J. Karamargin said yesterday, while describing that Giffords asked for some toast on Wednesday morning.
Giffords, who is currently at TIRR Memorial Hermann rehabilitation hospital in Houston, is said to have spoken her first words prior to Wednesday, but has been speaking more since then.
“The reason for choosing this rehab facility is because of their track record,” Karamargin said. “They are doing a fabulous job and working with her language and speech exercise and the physical therapy part of it.”
