GARY COLEMAN’S PARENTS SPEAK OUT
In the midst of the bizarre circus-like atmosphere surrounding the recent death of actor Gary Coleman, his estranged parents are now speaking out.
Sticking closely to their claims that everything ever said negatively about them is false, Willie and Sue Coleman appeared on NBC’s “The Today Show” last week to reiterate that they always loved Gary, and only wanted the best for him. Speaking with Meredith Vieira, the Coleman’s said they never felt bitterness toward their adopted son, even though he had not spoken to them in the last decade and sued them in 1989 for misappropriation over his assets. “As far as the money goes, we would never have taken money from him. We weren’t raised that way,” Sue Coleman said.
The Coleman’s also discussed how they found out about his death and their reaction to the deathbed photos allegedly sold to the tabloids by his ex-wife, Shannon Price. Choking back tears, Willie revealed that Price did not speak to either he or Sue after Gary passed, saying, “She didn’t call us. She didn’t talk to us direct.” Instead, she left an impersonal message that Willie referred to as “the strangest message I have ever heard in my life.”
