Gender Fluidity: Is Male/Female Really A Choice?

- Should ethnicity and age be a choice too? TAKE OUR POLL!

Is gender fluidity just a fad or worthy of legitimate consideration?

Lifestyle
In previous generations, humans were either male or female.  Some may have felt they were more male than female or more female than male and even altered their appearance/presentation to match their inner feelings.  Still, their gender identity — particularly their legal gender identity — was defined as male OR female.

Gender Fluidity

Fast forward to 2019 and suddenly, gender fluidity is a “thing.”  A younger generation is beginning to give itself permission to choose and decide its own gender AFTER birth.  In fact, some are even choosing to scrap the concept of gender altogether, choosing to substitute the pronouns him and her for “they” and “them.”

Genderqueer, also known as non-binary, is a catch-all category for gender identities that are not exclusively masculine or feminine‍—‌identities that are outside the gender binary and cisnormativity. Genderqueer people may express a combination of masculinity and femininity, or neither, in their gender expression. – Wikipedia

Interestingly, the gender fluidity movement seems to be more of a statement against societal norms of what is traditionally considered “masculine” or “feminine” rather than what/who is actually birthed “male” or “female.”

For example, many gay males are fearful of the term masculine, since the term instantly takes their mind to a concept of hypermasculinity and the need to like sports, drink beer, work on cars, and be a “jock.”  Some gay females have the same concerns in reverse, which has given birth to the broadening belief of gender fluidity.

Gender fluidity and the ability for individuals to select whatever gender they desire is rapidly becoming acceptable in modern society.  Ironically, some of the same proponents of gender selection are the harshest critics of ethnic/cultural fluidity and selection.

When Rachel Dolezal was exposed for being born a white female after living her life as a black female, the world pounced on her and dictated that she did NOT have the right to decide what race she wants to be.  Was that theory hypocritical?

.

If Rachel Dolezal was ruined for choosing to live her life as an alternate ethnicity, then is it correct for society to celebrate individuals choosing to live their lives as an alternate gender?  If a male is allowed to identify as a female (or no gender at all). should a 60-year-old be allowed to identify as a 20-year-old — or no age at all??

The feeling that “liberal heathens” and “godless, gay perverts” are taking over America and turning it into a modern-day Sodom and Gomorrah (a real threat to a “normal way of life”) is quite palpable out in the heartland. Extremist nonsense on the left is just as dangerous… Read more »

Thank you!

At first I was going to say I don’t care what choice people make for themselves. But then DJ made some real good points. Everybody I know had something to say about Rachel Dolezal pretending to be black. A gay guy at work is always talking about how other gay guys he meet pretend to be a different age younger than what they are. So we can not have it both ways. If somebody wants to say they are whatever that is up to them. But all of us don’t have to go along with it. Plus this thing about getting rid of gender is going to far. Just be whoever you want but leave the rest of us out of it.
