Is gender surgery becoming the next new normal?
Lifestyle :
At some point during the 2000s, (predominately) Americans decided they no longer wanted to be defined by the terms “male” or “female” and the “no gender” movement took off like wildfire (while becoming somewhat of a fad to those who never took issue with their gender until it became popular to do so). Gender has since become such a hot-button issue that more and more people — especially young people — are choosing to switch genders or identify as nonbinary. Others are even going so far as to undergo gender surgery in order to match their newfound individuality.
Those with male genitalia are deciding to ditch their sexual organs in favor of female organs. Those with female genitals are choosing to dismiss their sexual organs and build male genitalia. Additionally, some are going even further by deciding to have both male and female organs or no genitalia at all.
“How do you describe to someone else the process of becoming real?” asked Hyde Goltz, a 42-year-old mortuary student from Minnesota who underwent a phalloplasty that gave them both a vagina and a surgically constructed penis.
At 42, Goltz was old enough to make the adult decision to have gender surgery. However, some teenagers are convincing their parents to approve the procedure and are living to regret it only a few years later.
“I was failed by the system. I literally lost organs,” said Chloe Cole, who decided she was transgender at the tender age of 12. By 13, she came out to her parents and then convinced them when she was 15 that she should get a double mastectomy. Less than a year later, she realized she’d made a mistake — all by the time she was only 16 years old.
Now 17, Chloe is among a growing list of “detransitioners” who wish to reverse a gender surgery — often after realizing they actually DO identify with their biological sex. Tragically, some teens whose procedures are irreversible will struggle for the rest of their lives with the medical consequences of a decision they were allowed to make as minors.
“I can’t stay quiet,” said Chloe. “I need to do something about this and to share my own cautionary tale.”
Former NBA star Dwyane Wade has filed a request to legally change his trans daughter’s name and gender in a move that could eventually lead to gender surgery. Now, the child’s mother is fighting back.
“I have concerns that [Dwyane] may be pressuring our child to move forward with the name and gender change in order to capitalize on the financial opportunities that he has received from companies,” ex-wife Siohvaughn Funches-Wade said in a court response.
According to a transgender psychologist who has helped hundreds of teens transition, gender surgery has “gone too far” and many are making permanent life-changing decisions only because it’s “trendy” and pushed on social media.
Dr. Erica Anderson (who is transgender herself) said she is horrified when she sees kids as young as 13 getting hormone treatment without ever meeting with a psychologist.
“For a while, we were all happy that society was becoming more accepting and more families than ever were embracing children that were gender variant. Now it’s got to the point where there are kids presenting at clinics whose parents say, ‘This just doesn’t make sense,'” she said.
Interestingly, Dr. Anderson is so concerned, she is now considering leaving her career behind.
“I have these private thoughts: ‘This has gone too far. It’s going to get worse. I don’t want any part of it,’ ” she added.
Gender surgery regrets are also becoming common among adults.
“I destroyed my life,” said 55-year-old Ex-Navy SEAL Kristin Beck, who underwent gender change. Now, he’s transitioning BACK to just being a male.
“Everything you see on CNN with my face, do not even believe a word of it,” Beck (who has returned to being known as Chris Beck) said regarding a television appearance he made while promoting his gender surgery as a positive move. “Everything that happened to me for the last 10 years destroyed my life. I destroyed my life. I’m not a victim. I did this to myself, but I had help. I take full responsibility.”
In March of 2022, Republicans introduced Senate Bill 1138 which was designed to ban surgeries for minors performed for the purpose of a gender transition, including everything from face sculpting procedures to mastectomies to genital reassignment surgeries.
Granted, there are those who are genuinely trapped inside the body of the wrong gender. They sometimes experience deep psychological trauma and can only find happiness by living life with the gender identity they believe they are and/or by having surgery.
However, there are also those who are treating the nonbinary issue and gender surgery as a fad. Sadly, many of them may come to later regret their choices in the same way those who are covering their bodies in tattoo’s in their 20s will discover in their 70s.
Gender surgery is often irreversible and is a huge step for anyone (especially teenage minors) to be allowed to make. Hopefully, those who are considering a gender change take the necessary time to weigh the options and consequences in order to assure a life of happiness following their decision.

Gender surgery truths and regrets.
Wow, thank you so much for this DJ! So glad you’re covering this extremally important and urgent topic because this Madness has gone so far to the Extreme that people (young people and older) are literally dying (suicide and attempted suicide) from having made such a life destructing decision!
“Granted, there are those who are genuinely trapped inside the body of the wrong gender.”
If I may – I’d like to slightly change just this one sentence so that it reads:
Granted, there are those who genuinely FEEL trapped inside the body of the wrong gender.
And I would posit that THAT number is actually so meniscal that even that Tiny group of ADULT individuals should have to undergo at least 3 Years of intensive psychotherapy AND THEN live as the opposite gender for at least 3 Years BEFORE being granted that surgery.
