Georgia, Bowling Alleys, And DOJ Lawsuits
The governors of Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina, and Attorney General William Barr have apparently lost their damned minds.
Current Events
By now, we all know COVID-19 is an active killer that currently annihilates an estimated 2,000 Americans every single day. So, what’s the best approach to destroy the death toll and save countless lives? If you live in a handful of southern red states and your guess was to continue social distancing guidelines, you’d be dead WRONG!
That’s because earlier this week, Gov. Brian Kemp of Georgia decided that the best way to deal with the virus is to ignore science, ignore raw data from medical professionals, and simply wish the virus away. He will fulfill that wish on Friday by allowing his own personal list of “essential businesses” such as bowling alleys, tattoo shops, barber and beauty shops, nail shops, and massage parlors to reopen and return to normal.
.
If that wasn’t enough, Gov. Lee of Tennessee and Gov. McMaster of South Carolina each declared they will also follow suit.
Gov. Bill Lee of Tennessee announced his statewide stay-at-home order will expire April 30th and that he will allow most businesses across 89 counties to reopen on May 1st or possibly sooner. South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster stated he will permit furniture stores, bookstores, music shops, florists, clothing and accessory shops, sporting goods stores, and flea markets to get back to normal ASAP. He also stated beaches will reopen next Tuesday at noon.
Stay-at-home orders are “disturbingly close to house arrest!” – Attorney General William Barr
“I have searched my head and my heart on this and I am at a loss as to what the governor is basing this decision on,” Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms said of Gov. Kemp. “You have to live to fight another day. And you have to be able to be amongst the living to be able to recover,” she said.
Since her city is “not out of the woods yet,” the mayor added she is considering legal options against the governor in order to save the residents of her city.
Interestingly, Mayor Bottoms is not the only official considering legal options.
On Tuesday, US Attorney General William Barr announced he will consider taking legal action against governors who continue to impose stringent rules against its citizens (related to the coronavirus) that infringes on constitutional rights.
“We have to give businesses more freedom to operate in a way that’s reasonably safe,” Barr said. “To the extent that governors don’t and impinge on either civil rights or on the national commerce — our common market that we have here — then we’ll have to address that.”
Yes, the Republican governors of Georgia, Tennessee, and South Carolina, as well as the Attorney General of the United States have all lost their damned minds. Yes, they have succumbed to the pressures of those select Americans who feel their “white privilege” has been inconvenienced by having to stay home for a measly few weeks in the interest of public health and saving lives. Yes, they have not only agreed to reopen such “must-have” businesses as tattoo shops and massage parlors but to begin legal action against any state unwilling to do the same very soon.
Oh, where is US Surgeon General Jerome Adams to beg white America to stay home for “Memaw” and “Paw Paw” (like he begged African-Americans to “do it for Big Mama”) when you need him?
Yes, folks, in the words of singer/rapper Donald Glover: THIS IS AMERICA!
OK WASSUP! covers Current Events:
Georgia reopens. Barr threatens.
“THIS IS AMERICA!”…indeed DJ. And kudos for pointing out the fact that the token negro, “Surgeon General Jerome Adams” has been quite MUTE when it comes to telling white America to stay home for “Memaw” and “Paw Paw.”
Okay so here’s my take on those red-state Governors who – in total allegiance to Trump- are willing to play Russian roulette with the lives of the citizens of their respective states. THIS is who they are and have always been. Men (and women) who are proudly ignorant, poorly educated AND dangerous in judgement.
When you put such ignorant, “poorly educated” and dangerous fools in positions of power and authority (mayors, governors, President) you get this kind of insane and reckless leadership.
