Last week, doctors gave some incredibly upbeat news on the condition of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ), who was the victim of an assassination attempt in January.
Doctors at TIRR Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston said they were surprised by the rate of Giffords’s progress and noted that she was not discouraged or depressed. They say she is “making leaps and bounds” in her recovery, adding “From a kind of limp noodle when you last saw her, she’s alert, sits up straight with good posture …… and is working very hard.”
The fact that Giffords is able to follow conversations and instructions, occasionally speak in full sentences, express emotion and walk with assistance is nothing short of a miracle, after being shot in the head at point blank range. “I am very happy to report she is making leaps and bounds in terms of neurological recovery,” said Dr. Dong Kim, one of the neurologists on her team. “She has made a tremendous amount of progress.”
This lady is a walking miracle. God bless her.
