Donald Trump sounded a racist dog whistle on Sunday with a stark message to the progressive new Democratic women of the House of Representatives: GO BACK WHERE YOU CAME FROM!

After watching House Speaker Nancy Pelosi “freeze-out” New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of late, Trump thrust himself into what he believed to be a brewing Democratic rift. It did not go well.
Using what may consider to be xenophobic terms, Trump told the new congresswomen who are Native-American, Muslim, African-American, and Hispanic: “Why don’t they go back and help fix the totally broken and crime-infested places from which they came?”
His hate-filled message was directed toward Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, Rashida Tlaib of Michigan, and Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts. Interestingly, each congresswoman is a woman of color. Additionally, Reps. Ocasio-Cortez, Pressley, and Tlaib were all born in the US.
“So interesting to see ‘Progressive’ Democrat Congresswomen, who originally came from countries whose governments are a complete and total catastrophe, the worst, most corrupt and inept anywhere in the world (if they even have a functioning government at all), now loudly and viciously telling the people of the United States, the greatest and most powerful Nation on earth, how our government is to be run,” Trump tweeted.
“Why don’t they go back and help fix the totally broken and crime-infested places from which they came,” he continued. “Then come back and show us how it is done. These places need your help badly, you can’t leave fast enough. I’m sure that Nancy Pelosi would be very happy to quickly work out free travel arrangements!”

Almost immediately, Speaker Pelosi lashed out at Trump.
“When @realDonaldTrump tells four American Congresswomen to go back to their countries, he reaffirms his plan to ‘Make America Great Again’ has always been about making America white again,” Pelosi tweeted. “Our diversity is our strength and our unity is our power.”
Other House Democrats also raced to defend their colleagues, including New Mexico Rep. Ben Ray Lujan (the #4 ranking House Democrat), who said Trump’s words were “a racist tweet from a racist president.”
Rep. Veronica Escobar also took issue with Trump’s remarks.
“The racism and hatred cultivated and fueled by @realDonaldTrump only serves to further divide our country and puts the targets of his vile attacks in danger,” she wrote on Twitter. “And this kind of attack is why xenophobic followers of his think the dehumanization of vulnerable immigrants is ok.”
However, Rep. Ocasio-Cortez chose to defend herself with a response aimed directly at ‘The Donald.’
“Mr. President, the country I ‘come from,’ & the country we all swear to, is the United States,” she tweeted. “But given how you’ve destroyed our border with inhumane camps, all at a benefit to you & the corps who profit off them, you are absolutely right about the corruption laid at your feet.”

Her words followed remarks made by Rep. Omar on Saturday in response to those who take issue with a Muslim-American congressional representative.
“I believe, as an immigrant, I probably love this country more than anyone that is naturally born,” the first-term congresswoman said.

THIS is what racism looks like. WE are what democracy looks like. And we’re not going anywhere. Except back to DC to fight for the families you marginalize and vilify everyday. pic.twitter.com/vYzoxCgN0X

If Donald Trump somehow believed he could tweet a wedge between Democrats, he was sadly mistaken. Despite what he may have sought to accomplish, his words have only served to further unify the Democratic Party and continue to show him as the xenophobic jackass that he is!

But Dems must always keep in mind – while Trump’s brazen attempts to divide Dems will most likely always Fail…the guy is always…ALWAYS..playing to his main crowd. His supporters. Trust and believe he always seeks to accomplish TWO main goals: 1. DISTRACT from whatever sh*tstorm is currently unfolding in *Trump world* (in this case his relationship to Epstein, Acosta resigning and the deplorable CAGES holding immigrant men, women and children in confinement like animals). And……. 2. Further unify HIS supporters by reinforcing their deeply held racist beliefs and inclinations. His ignorant and hateful-azz words and deeds aren’t just a racist dog whistle…they are a racist CALL TO ARMS through a bullhorn. His supporters hear him… Read more »
