GOOGLE STREET VIEW GONE WRONG!
Remember when Google admitted it had stolen accidentally gained access to everyone’s IP address and password info during Wi-Fi snooping from its Street View vans? Well, now Google says the incident was even worse than previously acknowledged.
Late last week, Google admitted that entire URLs, emails, and passwords were collected as well. And the biggest admission of all — they still have the data!
Google quietly broke the news late Friday afternoon, hoping the story would get lost in the hustle and bustle of the weekend. So it’s safe to say it’s not something they’re particularly proud of. The data breach was discovered by external regulators who have been investigating Google for its illicit data collecting. And according to Google exec Alan Eustace:
It’s clear from those inspections that while most of the data is fragmentary, in some instances entire emails and URLs were captured, as well as passwords. We want to delete this data as soon as possible, and I would like to apologize again for the fact that we collected it in the first place.
Needless to say, this might be a good time to change all your computer passwords and sensitive data.
