GOP Could Lose House
Unbiased Political News
Despite Fox News, Rush Limbaugh and other conservative media hacks using every excuse in the book to blame the past 3 weeks on President Obama and the Democratic Party, the reality is that the Republicans have taken the brunt of the blame. Americans clearly see the GOP, particularly the Tea Party wing of the party, as obstructionists who were willing to burn the entire house down unless they got their way…and they don’t like it!
Proof? A new survey of voters in a dozen Republican-held districts indicates that the government shutdown has made the House increasingly vulnerable to a Democratic takeover. If this happens, it could truly be the final nail in the Republican coffin, which could cause a faction of the party to secede from itself and form a new party.

Polls were conducted in select districts by Public Policy Polling that found voters intensely hostile to lawmakers who supported the shutdown.
Democrats only need an increase of 17 seats to retake control of the House. Prior to the government shutdown, polling found 17 Republican seats vulnerable to unnamed Democratic opponents. Just after the shutdown ended, another 4 Republican seats fell behind, for a total of 21 seats up for grabs.
In the latest survey of a dozen Republicans, 5 trail Democrats and another is tied. Once voters were told the Republican supported the shutdown, another 3 fell behind the Democrat. Of the 36 Republican-controlled districts where voters were surveyed, 29 of them could flip — more than enough to give control of the chamber to Democrats. That is catastrophic news for the GOP.
Old guard Republicans are smartly seeing the writing on the wall, and are said to be having “knock-down-drag-out” fights behind the scenes with the wing that is slowly but surely killing off the party. “I think we have now fully acquainted our new members with what a losing strategy that is,” Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell said. Some of the more seasoned GOP members, including McConnell, see their respect level and power of persuasion waning or even non-existent among an increasingly risky band of Tea Party’ers, prompting thoughts that their only possibility of survival is a messy divorce and the emergence of a 3rd party. Hmmm…
With their political future dim, including a potentially bleak 2014 and an even worse 2016 (8 years of Hillary?), Republicans are spinning the devastating news by saying that much can change in the 13 months between now and Election Day. However, the change they mention could involve the Democratic Party loading viable candidates into vulnerable House seats and Hillary/Cory Booker, Hillary/Julian Castro, or Hillary/anybody announcing for 2016, effectively burying the GOP once and for all.
House of Representatives?
Honestly, I'm feeling a little anxious about what I *THINK* is unfolding before my very eyes; Afraid that in a moment now I'm going to wake and find that the all out implosion of the GOP was just a dream. I've often wondered when?..IF?….the Repubs would ever pay for all of the totally reprehensible things they've said AND done over the years. I've wondered would it happen in my lifetime? Some Repubs now say the War within their party has been building for quite some time. Ted Cruz and his ilk have simply brought it all to a head. I say it's still early yet. And it remains to be seen whether or not "Old guard Repubs" can actually rein in the very monster they've spent DECADES creating(?) But it does appear that this is NOT a dream. They GOP is in fact shredding themselves to pieces. And yes it… Read more »
