Last week, GOP staffer Elizabeth Lauten called Malia and Sasha Obama “classless” for their choice of attire and attitude during the annual turkey pardoning hosted by their father, even going so far as to suggest their outfits were more suited for “a bar.” Ouch!
Apparently, Lauten forgot that the girls are teens and not political punching bags, or that young Sasha may not be smiling much as she gets comfortable with her new braces. Granted, it is fair play to attack the president or First Lady, but it is not at all fair to attack their children. Still, Lauten completely ignored this longstanding tradition and took offense to the girls frowning at their dad’s corny jokes with “Mac” and “Cheese,” the pardoned turkeys, totally overlooking their grins, applause and overall support of the event.
Social media immediately pounced on the clueless Lauten for her tasteless critique of the teens. Interestingly, Lauten is the former media director for the Republican National Committee, meaning she should know better when it comes to communication and political protocol. Since she seemingly did not, she issued a hasty and less than stellar apology.

“When I first posted on Facebook I reacted to an article and I quickly judged the two young ladies in a way that I would never have wanted to be judged myself as a teenager,” Lauten wrote. “After many hours of prayer, talking to my parents, and re-reading my words online I can see more clearly just how hurtful my words were.”
Did anyone see any mention of the words “I’m sorry?”
DJ don't you know all the past rules went out the window the day this black man got into the White House. They been attacking Obama, Michelle, calling them apes and everything but a child of God since they got there. No surprise now they don't have the decency to leave the kids alone. I think this woman should be fired or at least they should let Michelle go whoop her butt for talking about her babies.

And trust. The last thing Lauten expected was any kind of backlash for her venomous attack on the childen of the first African-American President in U.S. history. She's a Repub. Disrespecting the President and his family is quite the norm for Lauten and her ilk.
The fact that she was anybody's *Communications Director* is a joke and says a lot about the person who hired her in the first place. The obvious and sad irony being that people like Lauten have absolutely NO class. None at all.
But hate? Now THAT …she's got an abundance of…..smh.
