Is political doom on the horizon for the GOP in 2024 — and are they the last to know it?
Politics :
With only months to go before the 2024 presidential campaign begins in earnest, things don’t appear all that rosy for the Republican Party. The end of Roe v. Wade and a woman’s right to choose is hitting the GOP harder than they expected. Fox News is switching its pro-Republican and alternate-facts format after losing a nearly $1 billion lawsuit by Dominion Voting Services. Donald Trump has been indicted in New York State, with other indictments and legal woes soon to follow. Oh, and speaking of Donald Trump, he appears to be the heir apparent for the GOP presidential nomination in 2024.
Needless to say, those are not good points — and fellow Republicans are beginning to publicly speak about their concerns regarding the GOP in 2024.
According to longtime conservative David Frum, the Republican Party’s nearly dead-set decision to coronate Donald Trump as the 2024 presidential nominee — despite signs that he hasn’t a chance in hell of winning — will be the death knell for the GOP in 2024.
“Are we watching a Republican electoral disaster in the making?” Frum said in his column in The Atlantic. “Biden’s poll numbers are only so-so. But a presidential election offers a stark and binary choice: This or that? Biden may fall short of some voters’ imagined ideal of a president, but in 2024, voters won’t be comparing the Democrat with that ideal. They will be comparing him with the Republican alternative.”
Frum went on to add that because of the MAGA movement and Donald Trump’s hold on the GOP that has the entire party fearful of him, President Biden will run away with a victory despite his low poll numbers.
“Republicans are doing everything wrong,” Frum exclaimed. “They are talking to their voters about Trump’s personal grievances and about boutique culture-war issues that their own base does not much care about, such as the state of Florida’s ‘war on Disney.’ At the same time, Republican leaders are confronting Democratic voters with extremist threats on issues they care intensely about: bans on abortion medication by mail, restrictions on the freedom of young women to travel across state lines, attacks on student voting rights, proposed big cuts to Medicaid and food stamps in the GOP debt-ceiling ransom demand.”
“They are well on their way to earning a deep, nasty defeat—and the smell of that defeat may be an additional draw to the polls for the Democratic-leaning constituencies that will inflict it,” Frum concluded.
Is David Frum right? Are the GOP’s talking points providing ravenous red meat for their MAGA base but also turning moderates, independents, and the rest of the electorate completely off?
Will Donald Trump and his kooks lose another election for the Republican Party? And, if so, will Republicans finally wake up and divorce themselves from ‘The Donald’ once and for all?

Is the GOP in 2024 already a lost cause?
I really hope the Dems don’t fool themselves and take the 2024 elections for granted. The only way to ensure that Trump and the Repubs lose is for Everyone else to vote!
If Dems (including Dem-leaning Independents and Young voters) fail to show up in overwhelming numbers and vote then we can kiss democracy and Our country goodbye!
