GOP & OBAMACARE
What now, Republicans?
The GOP was damned near convinced that the Supreme Court was set to overturn what they’ve unaffectionately dubbed “ObamaCare.” But Chief Justice Roberts drove a stake through their unsuspecting hearts, when he sided with the more liberal justices and upheld each and every syllable of President Obama’s signature health care bill.
What now?
Mitt Romney and his Republican colleagues were at the starting gate, ready to take a victory lap in defeat of what has come to define Mr. Obama’s presidency — health care. They had television commercials and talking points at the ready, on just why Mr. Obama’s plan was so flawed and how the Supreme Court had to step in and prove it so. Except, Chief Justice Roberts didn’t read the GOP script or play by their rules. He rained on their parade, causing them to scramble for answers and a new plan of action.
What now?
Republicans can’t really argue so strongly against health care now that the Supreme Court has sided with the Obama administration. Sure, they will spend the next several days licking their wounds and still repeating how it is flawed and how they still wish to repeal it. But what’s done is done.
If Republicans really want a chance in hell of winning the presidency, they’ll accept defeat, move past health care and focus on something other than red meat for the GOP, but something independent’s can identify with and get behind.
What now? Time to move on!
"What now, Republicans?"HAH. H*ll if they know!?!As I wrote on Friday, they're trapped in a hateful and twisted nightmare of their own making and at this point they can't help themselves. They MUST continue their dreadful journey. But if i may extend this conversation just a little to the role the media (cable news networks, pundit-idiots, so-called political-legal anaysts and POLLS) played in all of this:I found it rather TELLING that both Fox Noise and CNN initially reported that the mandate had been "struck down." The most important ruling of this presidency and those 2 joke news stations got the ruling WRONG in their PRE-determined reporting because as Toobin put it: “It looked to ALL THE WORLD like the chief justice was going to strike down the law,” legal analyst Toobin later said on air, seeking to explain the CNN confusion. […]And WHO pray tell was Toobin referring to? Well THE.MEDIA. of course…smh.I think their agenda is clear: Forget about REPORTING the news. Simply CREATE it instead.1. "CNN Flubs… Read more »
