Unbiased Political News –
GOP Presidential Candidates In 2016

The class of GOP presidential candidates in 2016 is getting crowded — and comical.  In case you missed it the biggest clown of all, Donald Trump, has joined a crowd of contenders in running for president!

Unbiased Political News
Trump’s addition to the GOP field not only raises the number of presidential candidates in 2016 to 12 (with a half dozen more planning to join soon), but it will almost certainly be his latest reality television show.  Imagine Trump bringing his unique brand of hijinks to a conservative GOP debate.  Who will ever take that seriously and be so inclined to vote for the Republican ticket?

Nevertheless, in addition to Trump there’s a truckload more of Republicans who have dreams of commandeering the Oval Office.  Let’s take a look at who’s running and what they’re all about:

JEB BUSH
Bush presidential candidates in 2016As the son of former President Bush #1 and the brother of former President Bush #2, Jeb Bush simply believes it’s his turn to follow the family business. His stint as the former Governor of Florida has also provided him some executive training. However, voters aren’t so sure they want 1 family having that much control over the Oval Office (which is the same dilemma Hillary Clinton is finding herself in).

DR. BEN CARSON
This retired Johns Hopkins neurosurgeon has spent the past 8 years witnessing the power of a black man in the White House. Now, he seems to want to taste a piece of that same pie. However, his ultra-conservative viewpoints, his lack of political experience and his staunch position against homosexuality and gay marriage could sink his boat before it even sets sail.

TED CRUZ
A US Senator from Texas and an outspoken mouthpiece for the religious right, Cruz seems ready to play the heritage card, which would make him the first Mexican President of the United States. However, his fanatical and almost loony stances on social issues, combined with the fact Cruz was born in Canada, could end his run among the general population sooner rather than later.

CARLY FIORINA
Fiorina presidential candidates in 2016She was fired following her failed tenure as CEO of Hewlett-Packard and competed in a failed run for US Senate from California. Now, Fiorina somehow believes she’s qualified to be the Commander-In-Chief. Sorry, Carly…it’s just not gonna happen!

LINDSEY GRAHAM
He is a long serving senator from South Carolina and the only bachelor among the presidential candidates in 2016. However, Graham could call in a decade of political favors to make waves among the crowded list of GOP contenders.

MIKE HUCKABEE
A former church pastor, a former governor of Arkansas and a current TV political pundit, Huckabee hopes to use his connections with the Christian Coalition to make this 2nd run for the presidency more successful than the first.

GEORGE PATAKI
Former New York Gov. George Pataki presided during the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in 2001. Like former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, Pataki proved he was never ashamed to use 9/11 for his political profit. Expect to hear hundreds of “When I was around for 9/11” references from Pataki over the course of his (likely short) run.

RAND PAUL
Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky is the son of former presidential candidate Ron Paul. Like his dad, Paul appeals to the outer fringes of the Republican Party and a host of quirky screwballs from the Tea Party. Paul has attempted to distance himself from the “business as usual” policies of the GOP, which has drawn the ire of party bosses and could cost him among stalwart Republicans.

RICK PERRY
Until recently, Perry was the Governor of Texas. Now, he is among the full-time presidential candidates in 2016. Voters may remember the very public meltdown of his first run for president in 2012, which could work against his preparedness in 2016.

MARCO RUBIO
The Cuban-American Rubio currently represents the State of Florida in the US Senate. His latin roots are already working in his favor among the Latino community, which could take him far in the GOP race for president. Voters may remember the “Nervous Nellie” and parched Rubio during a Republican response to the State of the Union address, when Rubio leaned out of a live camera frame to grab a sip of water.

RICK SANTORUM
Trump presidential candidates in 2016Santorum was once a frontrunner during the Mitt Romney era in 2012. Now, the former Senator from Pennsylvania hopes lightening will strike twice in this, his 2nd run for president.

DONALD TRUMP
He’s the billionaire real estate developer from New York City. He’s the host of NBC’s “The Apprentice.” He’s also the man with the weirdest hairstyle in the history of hair. It’s hard to believe Donald Trump was once a well respected rich fat-cat, but he’s now a laughable caricature of himself. Trump doesn’t really want to be president. He just wants the publicity, the notoriety and the chance to film snippets of his campaign for reality television. So, move along folks — there’s really nothing to see here!

PREPARING TO ANNOUNCE SOON:

CHRIS CHRISTIE
This blowhard Governor of New Jersey was once seen as a frontrunner for the Republican nomination. However his late jump into the race as well as a series of political blunders, including closing the George Washington Bridge for political retribution, may have already ended his run even before it has begun.

BOBBY JINDAL
This Indian-American Governor of Louisiana was once seen as the Republican answer to Barack Obama. However, a lackluster State of the Union rebuttal for the GOP combined with a lackluster job in his state house is expected to make Jindal’s run for the presidency so short, if you blink you could miss it.

JOHN KASICH
The former US Congressman and current Governor of Ohio is very popular in a pivotal political state. He could be a sleeper for the nomination among all the presidential candidates in 2016.

SCOTT WALKER
This Governor of Wisconsin is surprisingly more popular nationally than he is among Republicans within his state. However, Walker’s position in a crucial midwestern state that has historically gone Democratic, could give him a worthy run for president in 2016.

Not a credible candidate among the whole sorry lot..and that includes Jeb…smh. What's rather striking to me is – for years cable news media (especially CNN) touted Jeb as the "smart" brother. But frankly, from what I've observed of Jeb thus far…Nothting could be further from the truth. Seriously. In terms of Jeb's intellect, or even his personality, for that matter..there just doesn't seem to be any *there* there. Which leads me to conclude that the only reason Jeb has a decent chance of winning the GOP nomination is because he's a *Bush* and (unless I'm mistaken) the #1 choice of the Repub establishment. That's it. Nothing else. Re: Trump As one writer put it "All jokes aside, the Republican Party is officially afraid of Donald Trump." And they should be. The man has about as much credibility as ANY of the other GOP candidates which frankly speaks Volumes about… Read more »
