GOP STILL SAYING ‘NO!’

Spread The Love
WASHINGTON, DC - NOVEMBER 30: House Speaker-designate John Boehner (R-OH) (C) is flanked by Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY)(L) and House Majority Leader-elect Eric Cantor (R-VA) (R) while participating in a media briefing after GOP leaders met at the White House with U.S. President Barack Obama on November 30, 2010 in Washington, DC. When the popular Barack Obama was inaugurated President of the United States, the Republican Party believed their only way to gain traction against him and his lofty bipartisan ideas, would be to “Just Say No” to everything.  Well guess what?  It worked!

Presidential candidate Barack Obama told voters he would change the environment in Washington. He said he had the ability to make things work differently and to convince politicians to work together for the good of the country.  But the GOP had a different idea.  Because if Obama could really fulfill that promise, he and the Democrats would be unstoppable. So they decided to say NO to everything and to muck-up the gears of progress in Washington.

Last summer, the GOP did everything but stand on their heads to muck-up health care reform.  And now that they’ve regained control of the House and hold greater representation in the Senate, they’ve suddenly found their mojo again.  Except now, not only are they saying NO to everything, but they’re saying HELL NO!

Following their huge victories on November 2nd, Republicans vowed to block everything.  And it appears they’re keeping their word.  President Obama attempted to save middle class Americans from huge tax increases and from losing crucial unemployment benefits.  But the GOP said NO!  Last week, Democrats tried to repeal the controversial “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” military policy, which would have allowed gay and lesbian military personnel to serve openly.  But the GOP said NO!

Will this strategy continue to work smartly for Republicans?  Or will it come back to bite them in their rear ends come 2012?

It's not a matter of Republicans always saying no. We have very different views from Mr. Obama and the Democrats. The Obama health care bill is just one example, in that it's socialized medicine. America doesn't need another bureaucracy. But Mr. Obama must take blame for not keeping his word and not changing Washington.
