Graham vs Jackson Ramps Up Ahead Of SCOTUS Vote
The lopsided/one-sided battle of Graham vs Jackson is heating up, with Republican Sen. Lindsay Graham of South Carolina doing everything in his power to derail the ascension of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the US Supreme Court.
Politics
On Monday, the Senate Judiciary Committee voted evenly along party lines — 11 to 11 — to advance Judge Jackson’s nomination to the full US Senate. Because Democrats control the Senate, Majority Leader Chuck Schumer used his authority to move the vote forward. And, that is when the GOP-manufactured Graham vs Jackson battle reared its ugly head to induce disruption.
Less than a year ago, Sen. Graham eagerly confirmed Judge Jackson to the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia — a post that is widely seen as a stepping stone to becoming a Supreme Court justice. However, the devout Donald Trump flunkie is now treating Judge Jackson as a piranha and ignoring the historical element that the first Black female Justice could bring to the US Supreme Court. In fact, the senator is so incensed at Jackson’s ‘all but assured’ confirmation to the high court, that he is calling her a “danger to the rule of law” and has vowed to go nuclear (over her presumed confirmation) if Republicans take back the Senate.
“If we get back the Senate, and we’re in charge of this body, and there’s judicial openings, we will talk to our colleagues on the other side. But if we were in charge, she would not have been before this committee. You would have had somebody more moderate than this,” Graham said.
So, what exactly is Graham vs Jackson all about? What does the senator have against the more-than-qualified jurist whom he supported less than a year ago? Is it because she’s Black? Is it because she’s female??
Sen. Graham, who has never voted against a Supreme Court nominee since he joined the Senate in 2003, says he is against Judge Jackson because she’s a liberal. However, congressional historians say he’s just being a “petty little bitch.”
Interestingly, GOP Sen. Roy Blunt of Missouri admitted that Judge Jackson’s appointment to the Supreme Court would mark a “high point” in US history — but then added that we could mark him down as a “no” vote, too.
Graham vs Jackson and other Republican madness ahead of the full Senate vote comes after Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas asked the judge if babies were racist. He then later claimed that Jackson “will prove to be the most extreme and furthest-left justice ever to serve on the United States Supreme Court.” It also comes after Sen. Josh Hawley of Missouri denigrated Jackson with the baseless accusation that she was soft on pedophiles as a judge. He later added, “Sex crimes against children are not fiction. They are not a conspiracy.”
Thankfully, all 50 Democratic senators are prepared to vote to confirm the first Black female Justice in US history later this week. Additionally, Republican Sens. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Mitt Romney of Utah have also announced they will vote in favor of Judge Jackson.
As for Graham vs Jackson, we all know what that’s really about.

Graham vs Jackson over Supreme Court seat.
Okay I’m getting to this late but thanks for posting about this DJ!
I saw a little bit of Lindsey’s act yesterday. And his performance brought to mind George Wallace’s “Segregation now…segregation today…segregation forever!” speech. That refrain was used as the “symbol of Southern defiance during the Civil Rights era.”
Btw- By ALL accounts, Wallace was actually a moderate and not really racist at all. However, after losing Alabama’s gubernatorial race in 1958 to a man who was strongly supported by the KKK, Wallace declared: “…no other son-of-a-bitch will ever out-nigger me again.” He fed Southern white racists the red meat they craved and he won the next 5 gubernatorial races in Alabama, beginning in 1962.
But I digress.
