HAITI SCAM!
Since the devastating earthquake in Haiti, many legitimate organizations and charities sprung into action to help desperate people in need. But, the earthquake has also been a golden opportunity for some “not-so-legitimate” organizations and other scammers looking to take advantage of a bad situation. This is no surprise and is often expected during disastrous times. But NOBODY saw this one coming!
FEED THE CHILDREN, which is thought to be a well known and respected charity, is under fire for allegedly using the Haiti earthquake to their own advantage. Their troubles include infighting between founder Larry Jones and his own daughter and the Board of Directors, charges of misappropriation of funds, lawsuits, and outright lies that the organization was providing more assistance in Haiti than they really were. It’s a saddening story and one that has rocked the charity world and those who mean well and wish to help. WATCH:
I wish I could say I’m surprised……but quite frankly, I’m notI’ve long suspected that most so-called “charitable” organizations are little more than Scams. Sadly, I think it’s being confirmed, YET AGAIN, in Haiti. In fact, about 3 months ago, I caught an investigative segment on CNN which gave a detailed report on the accountability of most major American charitable organizations, specifically highlighting how much of every dollar donated by the “PUBLIC” actually gets to the intended recipients, THE NEEDY.It seems the Salvation Army has the best record for delivering on its commitment, with approx 90% of all monies donated to that organization ACTUALLY going to intended recipients. If that report is accurate(?), no other organization comes nowhere close to that percentage_NONE!I’ve heard reporters (who are still in Haiti), report on the Tom Joyner morning show that the people of Haiti have seen little to NONE of the hundreds of MILLIONS… Read more »
