Happy 100th Birthday to former president Jimmy Carter!

Current Events :
James Earl Carter, Jr., who served as the 39th President of the United States from 1977 to 1981 made history today by becoming the oldest living former president in US history. Although he lost his wife, Rosalynn Carter, last year, he has broken another record that is very near and dear to his family’s heart. After being diagnosed with terminal cancer back in 2015, President Carter entered hospice care in February of 2023 and wasn’t expected to live much longer. However, 19 months later, the former president is still on this earthly plane to celebrate his Happy 100th Birthday.

“People ask how my grandfather’s doing, and he’s remarkably, basically, in the same position he’s been in since he went into hospice, and that was 19 months ago now,” Jason Carter said of his grandfather. “And when he went into hospice, we thought it was a matter of days, weeks, really. And, of course, we’re not in charge. He is very physically diminished.… He can’t do much on his own.  But he is emotionally engaged and still having experiences and laughing, loving.”

Jason added that the 100-year-old patriarch is no longer awake every day and that even though his family can’t always predict the state he will be in, they’re beyond grateful to see him reach this incredible milestone.

“[He’s] experiencing the world as best he can as he continues through this process,” Jason said.

Happy 100th Birthday

On Sunday, President Biden delivered a great, big Happy 100th Birthday wish to President Jimmy Carter.

“Mr. President, you’ve always been a moral force for our nation and the world. I recognized that as a young senator. That’s why I supported you so early,” Mr. Biden said in a message.

“Even after you left office, the moral clarity you showed throughout your career showed through again in your commitment through the Carter Center and Habitat for Humanity – resolving conflicts, advancing democracy, preventing disease, and so much more,” Mr. Biden continued.

Calling Mr. Carter “one of the most influential statesmen in our history,” Mr. Biden added: “Put simply, Mr. President, I admire you so darn much. You’ve been a good friend.”

On behalf of the grateful citizens of the United States, HAPPY 100th BIRTHDAY, PRESIDENT CARTER!

Yes indeed, it is an extraordinary thing. But I have seen it happen a few times.

The will to Live is beyond words that I could ever use to describe!

A person can be critically ill and not expected to live too much longer. Their family takes the person home to care for them, expecting them to pass away sooner rather than later. But through it all that “dying” relative actually out-lives his or her primary caregiver!?! 🤔

AP: Jimmy Carter reached his 100th birthday Tuesday, the first time an American president has lived a full century and the latest milestone in a life that took the son of a Depression-era farmer to the White House and across the world as a Nobel Peace Prize-winning humanitarian and advocate for democracy. Living the last 19 months in home hospice care in Plains, the Georgia Democrat and 39th president has continued to defy expectations, just as he did through a remarkable rise from his family peanut farming and warehouse business to the world stage. He served one presidential term from 1977 to 1981 and then worked more than four decades leading The Carter Center, which he and his wife Rosalynn co-founded in 1982 to “wage peace, fight disease, and build hope.” “Not everybody gets 100 years on this earth, and when somebody does, and when they use that time to… Read more »

Happy Birthday to President Carter. I remember when he first announced he had cancer. Everybody thought he was about to pass but here he is still alive at 100. He is a living miracle.
