If you’ve ever wondered what a hurricane, a tidal wave, and an earthquake all wrapped up inside an erupting volcano would look like, you’d needn’t look any further than Sunday night’s interview of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle conducted by Oprah Winfrey.

To say that Harry and Meghan took the gloves off in their first interview since “stepping away” from the royal family would be an understatement. Oh no. They exposed the institution of the royal family as puppets to the UK media, shone a light on covert racism inside the palace walls, and more!
During the 2-hour interview on CBS, both Harry and Meghan were quick to defend their relationship with Queen Elizabeth, reiterating over and over how supportive she has been of their marriage and how “grandmotherly” she is toward their infant son, Archie. However, they were also quick to point out the difference between the royal family and the royal “firm” — meaning those who have (in some cases) made it their life’s work to operate behind the scenes and manage the royal family as a global corporation.
At the start of the interview, Oprah made it clear that Harry and Megan were not being paid for their participation, that they were not made aware of the questions prior to the interview, and that no question was off-limits.
That’s when the fun began.
Meghan Markle explained how she became a walking target of lies and deceit following her marriage to Prince Harry. For example, the British media concocted a story that Megan made Prince William’s wife, Kate, cry during the planning of her wedding. According to Megan, the true story is that it was Kate who made Meghan cry.
The media also targeted Meghan for her growing popularity following hers and Harry’s extended tour of Australia. This is the exact treatment they gave the late Princess Diana after she and Prince Charles completed the same tour of Australia in the 80s.
Harry and Megan also revealed a few shocking secrets:
- The couple had a secret wedding and were already married a few days before the world saw them in all their pomp and circumstance.
- Megan’s public smile was a facade and she sought help from the palace “firm” after she began having thoughts of suicide for her treatment by the family and the media, but was rebuffed.
- Prince Charles began refusing to take telephone calls from Prince Harry back in early 2020.
- The palace cut off all financial support and security protection for Harry and Meghan and their son, Archie.
- Despite everyone within the royal family being given a title at birth, the palace broke protocol and decided not to give baby Archie a title.
Then, Meghan released a nuclear bomb.
According to her and Harry, “There were conversations about how dark his (baby Archie’s) skin might be when he’s born.”
Yes, someone within the royal family or “firm” was concerned if this mixed baby would come out dark and “stain” the image of the royal family. That’s when it became clear that the hatred directed toward Meghan Markle was not because she is American or an actress, but because she is Black.
Harry refused to divulge which family member or palace operative made the racist statement. However, when Oprah pressed if it came from Prince Charles or Prince William, Harry’s uncomfortable body language spoke volumes.
“We’re on different paths,” Harry said of his once-close relationship with his now-estranged brother, William.
Oprah Winfrey’s unique ability to pull personal information out of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle was a veritable masterclass in how to conduct an interview. If you missed it, check out a clip of the interview below.

Honestly, I’m a bit torn about this story. I usually pass over “tell all” interviews no matter who it involves. And with all of the problems we’re dealing with right now in our own country I really wouldn’t be interested in this British family feud at all.
However, I will admit that because of the royal monarch’s history (the despicable way Princess Diana was treated) supported greatly by the despicable actions of the British press AND the fact that Meghan is Black, I do think the REAL story is worth telling. In my world, Truth has always been my preference over fiction…even when it hurts.
So let’s just have the Truth shall we.
