Herschel Walker Is A Democrat’s Dream

Spread The Love

Herschel Walker is a devout Republican.  In fact, he’s a devout ReTrumplican.  However, Democrats are licking their chops over him.  But why?

Politics
Former NFL player and 1982 Heisman Trophy winner Herschel Walker is Black and Republican.  He’s also a Donald Trump MAGA sycophant.  So, naturally, ‘The Donald’ wants Walker to jump into politics and do his bidding in Washington as a “Trump minion.”

Herschel Walker

Republicans are 1 seat short of controlling the US Senate — and Trump would love for one of his foot soldiers to be the Republican to take them over the top.  So, it appears that Herschel Walker is Trump’s choice to receive his blessing, make a run for the Senate, and go on to do Trumpy things.

Walker, a decades-long Texas resident, recently made a move to the State of Georgia and has since registered to vote there too.  His reasons?  He’s about to challenge Sen. Raphael Warnock in hopes of replacing the African-American and Democratic Atlanta-area minister with a Black (in name only) ReTrumplican.

Interestingly, Democrats are absolutely in love with the idea that Herschel Walker could be the Republican challenger to Sen. Warnock because:

  1. Walker has never lived in Georgia before and would likely be seen as an interloper by voters.
  2. Walker was previously diagnosed with dissociative identity disorder and has a history of domestic violence with his ex-wife.
  3. Walker has zero political experience, has never organized or run a political campaign before, and does not have a legitimate/long-term base in Georgia that would be eager to support him.
  4. Walker is a Donald Trump disciple.

Walker’s extreme inexperience combined with his shortcomings would be like taking candy from a baby to Democrats and Sen. Warnock’s reelection bid — and that’s why Democrats are in love with him and hopeful that the Georgia GOP actually nominates him to run.

According to CNN, news of a Herschel Walker candidacy has Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (who had been hoping to regain control of the Senate) shaking in his boots.  In fact, McConnell is already so convinced that a Walker candidacy would be dreadful for Republicans, that he has begged former Sens. David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler to run again just to prevent Walker from becoming the nominee.

“Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell has suggested to allies that former Georgia senators David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler should take another look at running again, according to three sources familiar with the matter, after their narrow losses in January flipped the Senate to Democratic control.” CNN

Too bad for Mitch that Donald Trump holds just enough clout in Georgia to get his way.  Or, in other words, if Herschel Walker runs he would be all but certain to win the GOP nomination.  He’d just have an ice cube’s chance in Hell of actually winning the election.

AP: At first glance, Herschel Walker has a coveted political profile for a potential Senate candidate in Georgia. He was a football hero at the University of Georgia before his long NFL career. He’s a business owner whose chicken products are distributed across the U.S. And he’s a Black conservative with backing from former President Donald Trump, a longtime friend. But an Associated Press review of hundreds of pages of public records tied to Walker’s business ventures and his divorce, including many not previously reported, sheds new light on a turbulent personal history that could dog his Senate bid. The documents detail accusations that Walker repeatedly threatened his ex-wife’s life, exaggerated claims of financial success and alarmed business associates with unpredictable behavior. Walker, now 59, has at times been open about his long struggle with mental illness, writing at length in a 2008 book about being diagnosed with dissociative identity… Read more »

Hey Wil thanks man for this article. I had no idea what dissociative identity disorder was before today. Now I know it is the fancy term for multiple personality.

Thanks for sharing this info DJ. I actually had not heard about this before now.

Herschel Walker is a pretty sad fella isn’t he. And yes, he may win the Repub primary but has pretty much no chance of beating Sen. Warnock for that senate seat.

But that doesn’t mean Dems should assume it’s in the bag! That’s exactly how We ended with Trump in the White House. A lot of people assumed Hillary would beat Trump handily. And yes, she won the popular vote BUT she lost the EC vote because a lot of people didn’t bother to show up and vote in states and districts where it mattered the most.

Look …neither Stacey Abrams nor her GOTV organization have rested on their laurels.

Still the truth is, since Reagan’s presidency, the Dems have been losing ground when it comes to GOTV at ALL levels, across this country. And yes, I know that Georgia had been a reliably “Red” state for decades until Warnock’s win this year. But he won because of the massive GOTV efforts AND turnout.

Dems have an incredibly tough challenge ahead to sustain and build upon ANY vote advantage we may have. But only IF the majority of Dems ..especially Blacks and brown people…(along with True Independents) show up and vote.

We cannot and must not Assume any race is “in the bag.”

You are spot on right Truth. We cannot assume a thing. But somebody correct me if I am wrong but I think Warnock represents a district that has Atlanta in it. Plus he has a big church down there. I think that would make things tough for Walker to beat. But anything is possible and we still have to earn it.

Mr.BD

Oh brother, he is really going to try to be the black alternate to Rafael Warnock? Plus he never lived in Georgia before and has multiple personalities too? That is going to be interesting to watch.
