Leave it to the GOP — their dirty-little-tricks squad has struck once again. First the “birthers” tried (again) to disqualify Mr. Obama from the presidency by (unsuccessfully) challenging his citizenship. When that didn’t garner any real traction (again), Republicans fueled a new controversy that quickly sparked fear among Senior Citizens, convincing them the new Health-Care bill moving through Congress will lead to end-of-life “rationing” and even “euthanasia.”

The confusion stems from an actual proposal to pay physicians who counsel elderly or terminally ill patients about what medical interventions they might prefer near the end of life, as well as how to prepare instructions such as living wills. But some conservative radio programs, Christian-conservative Email lists and Internet blogs have stirred up trouble with an extreme rumor describing the proposal as “guiding you in how to die,” “an order from the government to end your life,” promoting “death care” and, in the words of anti-abortion leader Randall Terry, an attempt to “KILL GRANNY!”

In a recent Town Hall meeting with members of AARP, the President was asked by a Senior Citizen if the new health care bill would exclude Seniors, leading the government to send workers around with a mandate to ask the elderly “HOW WOULD YOU LIKE TO DIE?” Morbid! WATCH:
