Hunter Biden has just made life miserable for conservative Republicans.

On Tuesday, a federal jury found Hunter Biden (the eldest son of President Joe Biden) guilty on all 3 federal felony gun charges levied against him. The jury concluded that he violated laws designed to prevent drug addicts from owning firearms after he purchased a revolver in October 2018 at a Delaware gun shop. He could now face jail time.
According to CNN, the jury deliberated for just under 3 hours and returned a guilty verdict on all 3 counts. The first 2 counts were for lying about his drug use on a federal background check form, while the 3rd count was for possessing a gun while addicted to and/or using illegal drugs.
“I am more grateful for the love and support of my family than I am disappointed by the outcome,” a resolved Hunter Biden said following the verdict.
President Biden also discussed the verdict after traveling to Delaware to be with his son.
“As I said last week, I am the President, but I am also a Dad. Jill and I love our son, and we are so proud of the man he is today,” the president said of the son who was once an addict but has since cleaned up his life.
Immediately following the guilty verdict, conservative Republicans were giddy with excitement and jumping for joy at the news Hunter Biden is now a bonafide felon. They were eager to exact revenge against Democrats for daring to charge Donald Trump with myriad crimes and felt that “getting” Hunter Biden was a fair tit-for-tat way to avenge the Trump trials.
However, these same Republicans quickly lost their excitement once they realized the hypocrisy of their celebrations.
The collective GOP has long been in the back pockets of the gun lobby. Even after a dozen school shootings by crazed gun owners — including the 2012 shooting deaths of 1st and 2nd graders at the Sandy Hook Elementary School — Republicans have fought tooth and nail that every American has a right to bear arms.
Conservatives have always supported guns and gun owners, no matter what. However, that support came to a screeching halt on Tuesday once the gun owner was a Democrat named Hunter Biden.
Interestingly, some within the gun community are embarrassed at the double standard.
“I am disappointed in the shortsightedness of the 2A community in the Hunter Biden case,” tweeted Eric Blandford, the Georgia State Director for the Gun Owners of America. “Remove political partisanship from the equation. You don’t have to like Hunter Biden. Hell, I don’t obviously. But this is a chance to further prove the unconstitutionally of the 4473.”

Could it be that conservative gun proponents are actually hypocrites who only want protections when it shields them but no one else?
