Impeachment Inquiry Vote ‘Trumps’ Trump

Spread The Love

Surprise!  House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has called the bluff of Donald Trump and his Republican protectors in Congress by giving them what they’ve been begging for (but never really wanted): a full and public impeachment inquiry vote.

Politics
Yes, while Trump was patting himself on the back and taking a victory lap on Monday for the military raid that killed ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, Pelosi was announcing an impeachment inquiry vote for Thursday, October 31st.  Granted, this is no trick-or-treat, but Republicans still got tricked into a ploy that’s not going to treat them or ‘The Donald’ very well in the end.

Impeachment Inquiry Vote

Realizing early they couldn’t defend Trump’s actions that brought on the impeachment inquiry, the last-ditch strategy by the GOP was to attack the process.  They threw temper tantrums and barked that the probe was being conducted behind closed doors, out of the public eye, and without their input.  Trump even dusted off one of his old hits and lamented that Democrats were conducting “a witch hunt” and weren’t allowing him to defend himself.  He insisted that the full House should vote before such an inquiry proceeds and vowed not to cooperate until a vote is allowed.  Additionally, Republicans staged a circus-like act last week by barging (uninvited) into a House Intelligence Committee hearing and demanded that the process be open and not conducted behind closed doors.

Well, Speaker Pelosi heard them all — and she called their bluff.

Impeachment Inquiry Vote

On Thursday, an impeachment inquiry vote involving the full House of Representatives will take place.  For Pelosi to schedule such a vote means she already has all the votes she needs to succeed.  She’s also aware that Republicans will no longer be able to spin the argument that Democrats are operating in secret and that Trump will run out of excuses to further impede the investigation.  Pelosi is about to give them what they’ve been asking for but never expected.  The Trump impeachment inquiry vote will pass, then Democrats will be allowed to continue their investigation while Republicans grasp for new ways to defend ‘The Donald.’

Oh, and all the dirt against Donald Trump that’s previously been behind closed doors will now be made public for all the world to see.

So, there’s a huge lesson here and it comes in the form of an old saying: “Be careful what you ask for because you just might get it!”

First: Kudos DJ. You called it last week. I thought It’d be better for Dems to hold off a little while longer and then present their case in a grand display. But apparently Speaker Pelosi has come to the same conclusion that you did. Trump and his sycophants are full of it. And NOW is the time to call their bluff.

Yep…Lol And it can come at you fast too!

Look. We know that Trump and the Repubs AIN’T even ready for what’s probably about to hit him/them so we should expect the “Crazy” and absurd antics to ratchet up to a whole other level as they desperately scramble around trying to save Trump’s sorry azz.

Thankfully Nancy Pelosi is in charge and running this entire thing.

The Dems had better stay unified, continue following her lead and NOT screw this up.

Yep DJ you sure did call this alright. Like you said Pelosi has got the votes so Repubs have nothing else they can argue about. Plus Trump has no reason not to cooperate anymore. I think Nancy played this real well. I still cannot believe we almost did not make her speaker. She is playing Trump like a fiddle.

Welp…I have to admit, right-wing blogger/radio-host, Erick E. really has tried to ‘keep it Real’ with his followers about this mess and asks: “Are Republicans ready to defend Trump instead of attacking the impeachment process?” [Republicans seemed somewhat taken aback by the Democratic decision to hold a vote this week. The Republican defense of President Trump has centered on attacking the House Democratic process rather than contesting the facts of the case. …………………. Very soon, Republicans will get their wish for open hearings with cross-examinations and opportunities to present corroborating evidence. If they want to protect President Trump from public opinion that supports impeachment, congressional Republicans need to find a strong argument that what the president did was not an abuse of power. If the GOP cannot start persuading independent voters that Trump acted ethically and reasonably, he will not only soon become the third president to be impeached, but… Read more »

(CNN)President Donald Trump and his Republican defenders may come to regret that Nancy Pelosi gave them what they wished for.

Putting the House on the record for the first time on impeachment, through the speaker’s call for a vote by the whole chamber on procedures, is a highly symbolic step that will challenge the entire Republican critique of the impeachment process.

More crucially, such a vote could make it more difficult for the GOP to dodge the substance of the Ukraine scandal and the issue on which impeachment will turn: Did Trump abuse his power?

Superficially, the House speaker’s call for the vote is a reversal and vindicates GOP critics who have blasted her inquiry. But it threatens to begin eroding the central pillar of Trump’s defense so far: that the investigation is nothing but an unconstitutional sham that is depriving him of due process.

Fox News:
House Democrats’ impeachment vote is nothing but a “sham,” Rep. Doug Collins, R-Ga., said on Tuesday.

On Monday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced the vote on a resolution to formalize — and establish the parameters — of the Trump impeachment inquiry. It is not an actual article of impeachment, but rather a resolution that sets the ground rules for the process. Fox News has learned the vote will take place Thursday on the House floor.
