Donald Trump may present a bunch of bravado and the impression that he is unflappable. — but there are 2 things that actually scare him: the 25th amendment and the (very real) possibility of impeachment.
Politics
During a recent Michigan rally and an NRA speech, Trump expressed worry that he could face impeachment or the 25th amendment if Republicans lose their majority in the House of Representatives.
“We have to keep the House because if we listen to Maxine Waters, she’s going around saying ‘We will impeach him!’ ‘We will impeach him’,” Trump said as the crowd booed whenever he mentioned Waters’ name. “Then people said, ‘He hasn’t done anything wrong,’… Oh, that doesn’t matter, we will impeach the president’.”
He added that his supporters shouldn’t take anything for granted just because Republicans control both chambers of Congress.
“We cannot be complacent. We gotta go out and we gotta fight like hell and we gotta win the House and we gotta win the Senate.”

In addition to his fear of Democrats regaining control of Congress and introducing articles of impeachment against him, Trump is also deeply concerned about the 25th amendment. Since it was created as a means to remove an elected official if he/she were ever disabled, mentally incapacitated, or a threat to the democracy, Democrats could use the amendment to declare “The Donald” unfit for office and therefore incapable to remain in his position. The case being carefully constructed by Robert Mueller and his team could very likely coincide with the midterm elections, which could provide all the ammunition needed to oust Trump from office.
Is the Republican Party at risk of losing its stranglehold on Congress this November? If Democrats regain control, would the impeachment of Donald Trump be a top priority for the new majority party? Would an actual impeachment or removal from office via the 25th amendment survive public opinion and be successful against Trump? Would America really want President Pence?

Okay I’m home today not feeling well and on meds so please forgive me if I ramble. In DJ’s last paragraph he asked the following: 1. “Is the Republican Party at risk of losing its stranglehold on Congress this November?” Yes. But the Dems would be crazy to count their chickens before they hatch 2. “If Democrats regain control, would the impeachment of Donald Trump be a top priority for the new majority party?” I doubt it but we’ll see. Frankly, I don’t think it’s a smart idea for Dems to be shooting off their mouths about it. The same goes for Nancy Pelosi shooting her mouth reminding Repub voters that if the Dems regain the House she expects to be Speaker again. It all plays right into Trump’s hands. 3. “Would an actual impeachment or removal from office via the 25th amendment survive public opinion and be successful against… Read more »
