If you’re anything like me and a huge fan of the classic board game MONOPOLY, you’re gonna love the new edition.
Introducing MONOPOLY LIVE! Unveiled during last week’s toy fair in New York City, the new twist on the old favorite has gone completely high tech. Now, an infrared camera tower sitting at the center of the board will keep track of all aspects of the game: It will roll the dice, calculate rent, keep track of whose turn it is and where your piece is on the board, and even maintain a running tally of exactly how much money you have.
The old-school fake paper money is no more, with all cash electronically stored on a bank card. You’ll also never have to roll another pair of dice. Instead, you’ll simply cover your dice and the tower will electronically roll for you… including sound! The tower camera will know where your piece should go since an infrared light can see reflectors placed on each game piece, and a voice-prompt will tell you exactly where to move. Now how’s that for technology?
MONOPOLY LIVE will be available this fall and just in time for Christmas. It will retail for $50.
