The Iowa caucuses 2024 and the official kick-off to this year’s presidential election were held on Monday. Were there any surprises? You bet!
Politics :
On Monday, voters gathered for the traditional caucuses in Iowa. Interestingly, it didn’t take long for news agencies to conclude that Republicans once again want Donald Trump as their king and savior in 2024.
According to CBS News, Trump won the Iowa caucuses 2024 with 51% of support. His closest challenger was Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis with 20% support. Former UN Ambassador and South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley came in 3rd with 19% while Vivek Ramaswamy ended with only 8% support.
CBS added that Trump won over men, women, older voters, and younger voters — and even improved on his 2016 performance among these groups.
Interviews with voters heading into the Iowa caucuses revealed that immigration followed by the economy were the issues most important to them. GOP voters also said they wanted someone who shares their values — and that (surprisingly), Trump’s legal woes were not an issue for them.
In yet another surprise, the Iowa caucuses were apparently just too much for Vivek Ramaswamy.
After coming in last place, Ramaswamy announced that he would be dropping out of the race and throwing his complete support behind Donald Trump.
“We did not achieve the surprise that we wanted to deliver tonight,” the 38-year-old biotech entrepreneur said in Des Moines. He decided to suspend his self-funded campaign after concluding there was no path forward for him in the race, “absent things that we don’t want to see happen in this country.”
While endorsing Trump, he added: “I think we’re going to do the right thing for this country. And so I’m going to ask you to follow me in taking our America First movement to the next level.”
Or, in other words, all signs are pointing toward Donald Trump running away with the Republican nomination.
Although only 40 delegates were up for grabs on Monday night out of over 2,400 nationwide, the Iowa caucuses have long been seen as the first measure of how Republicans might vote come primary season.

And here we go with worthless polls again!
In the weeks leading up to the Iowa Caucus darn near All the polls had her in a “solid” 2nd place, with DeSantis trailing behind in 3rd place. When in actuality she was in a distant 3rd place.
