Beginning long ago, the prime minister {Netanyahu} has taken pains to assure us of the responsibility he feels for the Jewish people, everywhere in the world.

What we could not have suspected then, was that the opposite would be true: It's all of us Jews, in Israel and abroad alike, who are stuck with the fallout for what Benjamin Netanyahu says and does.

He will stop at nothing, wreak any havoc, to get 25 percent of Israeli voters to keep him in office. Meanwhile, the rest of us are left to clean up the mess. […]

Pres. Obama, July 2015:
“What we have to rely on are grassroots networks and me being able to get on the horn with a bunch of rabbis and hopefully they’re paying attention. You work with what you got.”

Grim & Schulberg:
The American Israel Public Affairs Committee, the pro-Israel lobby group, spent millions on television ads and face-to-face pressure on Capitol Hill, yet lost by a far greater margin than had been expected. J Street, a progressive pro-Israel group, and the National Iranian American Council led the effort to rally lawmakers in support of the nuclear deal, but with comparatively minuscule budgets — outside of the Democratic Party apparatus, there was nowhere near the same financial firepower behind the organized campaign to support the deal. A Reader at Haaretz writes:
So much for AIPAC's invincibility. If this was good for Bibi, what is bad?

American presidents learned that they don't have to placate Bibi, and that Jews are not fleeing to the Republican Party. Plus, the deal will pass. Bibi wanted the USA to join his fit of self-righteous dudgeon, as opposed to getting something from the deal (which the Europeans were going to follow regardless). As the Light Unto the Nations turns into a pariah state…[…]

another Reader writes:
Israel is shooting herself in the foot by alienating natural allies in America by rudeness and indifference to America's interests in the region. The result is a groundswell of anti-Israeli sentiment and anti-Semitism in American on the left and the far right. Battles are won on the field. Wars are won politically. Israel does not help herself win the war when she does not make a good faith effort to resolve the Palestinian problem and acts beastly towards those living in Gasa. Israel has the worst PR in the world except for ISIS. […]

Those comments reflect a common sentiment expressed over at Haaretz.

Personally, I couldn't be more pleased just knowing that *NothingYahoo* and his Zionist cronies (including AIPAC, the neoCONS, darn near ALL of the Repub politicians and even a few Dems) have finally PLAYED THEMSELVES and prompted an even bigger backlash AGAINST that arrogant, racist, Hateful and dangerous group.

I commend J Street and the majority of American Jews who support the deal.

Note: J Street is the political home for pro-Israel, pro-peace Americans who want Israel to be secure, democratic and the national home of the Jewish people. Working in American politics and the Jewish community, we advocate policies that advance shared US and Israeli interests as well as Jewish and democratic values, leading to a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. – Jstreet.org
