Especially when you stop to consider that many (if not MOST) of those "middlemen" are as flawed (if not MORE flawed) than the average parishioner confessing his/her sins!

I"m not Catholic, nor have I ever been…so I'm a little uncomfortable weighing in on this.

But I have to say that I do agree with BD's answer.
