The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, also known as “ISIS,” is becoming a powerful force inside Iraq, so much so that they were kicked out of al Qaeda in February for being “too radical.” Although their presence is threatening stability within the region, it is the words of a former ISIS prisoner regarding the U.S. that has caused concern.
At the end of his captivity in 2009, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi issued some rather chilling final words to his U.S. captors at a detention camp in Iraq. “He said, ‘I’ll see you guys in New York,’” U.S. army Col. Kenneth King recalled. Military experts and congressional leaders aren’t revealing their intelligence on the matter, but the remarks have certainly ramped up concern in just this past week.
“The seeds of 9/11s are being planted all over Iraq and Syria,” Sen. Lindsay Graham (R-S.C.) said. “They want an Islamic caliphate that runs through Syria and Iraq…and they plan to drive us out of the Mideast by attacking us here at home.”

Graham’s concerns were echoed by Ret. Gen. Peter Chiarelli, who said that “all Americans should be concerned” by ISIS’ quick rise and success in Iraq, while House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Rogers (R-Mich.) said, “I guarantee you: this is a problem that we will have to face and we’re either going to face it in New York City or we’re going to face it here.”
“These are not monkey bar terrorists out in the desert somewhere planning some very low-level attack. These are sophisticated, command and controlled, seasoned combat veterans who understand the value of terrorism operations external to the region, meaning Europe and the United States. That is about as dangerous a recipe as you can put together,” Rogers added.
In our 13th year since the terrorist attacks of 9/11, should Americans be concerned about the hint of new threats? Or is this all an overreaction and a big bunch of nothing?

In our 13th year since the terrorist attacks of 9/11, should Americans be concerned about the hint of new threats? Or is this all an overreaction and a big bunch of nothing? [….] I don't think it's a big bunch of nothing. But frankly, as an American, I can honestly say that I feel as a nation, We face an even bigger threat from those who call themselves "Americans." And you need look no further for an answer as to WHY I feel this way than to our disastrous response to the 9/11 attacks. The truth is, the majority of (mostly White and so-called "Conservative") Americans allowed themselves to be PLAYED by the Bush-Cheney administration as they carried out the delusional and corrupt bidding of the neoCons and the U.S. military industrial complex. Those dangerous morons were backed by an American puppet media and a mostly Uninformed American citizenry. And… Read more »
