IS TIGER WOODS DONE?
What’s up with Tiger Woods?
Ever since the huge infidelity scandal that embarrassed him into a one year retirement and ended his marriage, Tiger Woods has failed to live up to the title of “Greatest Golfer ever” that some had bestowed on him. And now following one of the worst major championship weeks of his career, it’s hard to see any positive direction for his future.
Woods entered last week’s PGA Championship with obvious questions regarding the state of his game and his health. Most hoped that a stellar showing from Woods could put to rest any questions of his relevancy to the game during this, his second tournament back after a 3-month layoff. But unfortunately, Woods left the Atlanta Athletic Club with more questions than answers.
Friday got off to a slow but steady start for Woods. But then the roller coaster ride began as Woods made a series of gaffes and shot himself out of contention, making this only the 4th time in his career that he’s been forced out of a major championship. His poor performance comes after recent negative remarks from his former longtime caddy, Steve Williams, who was fired by Woods and wasted no time letting his hard feelings about the pro golfer be known publicly.
Tiger Woods’ remarkable career seems to be in disarray. And some say the direction of his career is failing to improve, but is instead continuing to deteriorate. So the question remains: is this a temporary funk that Woods can work his way out of, or are his best days truly behind him and he’s moreso at the end of the road?
Tiger's situation reminds me of one of my grandmother's MANY wonderful southern expressions. Grandmom is gone now (almost 10 yrs) but I can just here her saying…"You know that child really needs to get somewhere and SIDDOWN."I don't know if Tiger's "funk" is temporary. But it sure seems like he needs to take a good long break..longer than the breaks he's taken thus far, anyway. The truth is, I actually thought he meant it the last time he announced he was taking a break and wouldn't return until he was back in shape to compete. Well…he's back out there playing but he's obviously nowhere near ready to compete again (mentally OR physically). CNN even reported, yesterday, that Tiger has fallen back to earning what he earned during his rookie year!?! I think he reallys should go someplace and "SIDDOWN" for awhile.
