He's a moderate Repub. But right now he's all Conserv Repubs have standing between them and a COMPLETE takeover of the GOP by the tea-partiers.

Something about him makes me very uncomfortable. Perhaps it's the fact he is smug and unimpressive. I am supporting Mitt Romney but if Rick Perry gets our nomination, the election will certainly be lost.

Perry's responses were shaky, simplistic and grammatically challenged. He actually makes GWB sound like an Ivy League scholar!"  ~ Commenter @The Washington ExaminerI watched the entire debate and afterwards thought__really only 2 people should've been on that stage, Huntsman and Romney (neither of which is a favorite of the Repub Tea-party base). NONE of the candidates spelled out a specific plan for tackling even ONE critical issue this country faces right now. But compared to EVERYBODY else on stage, Huntsman and Romney came across as articulate, SANE and reasonably intelligent, which makes both of them NON-favorites of the base.  IMO, Huntsman did better then Mitt and I think he'd actually pose the greater challenge for Pres. Obama next Nov. However, Huntsman's chances of winning the GOP nomination are slim to NONE.  Mitt "the shapeshifter" pretends to be whatever the Repub base wants him to be. When the media began hyping Perry as the front-runner I stood firm that Mitt is the man to beat for the nomination. I still believe that that's the case UNLESS tea-party voters decide "DAMN ELECTABILITY. RICK IZ OUR MAN."    Which brings me to Perry's debut debate performance….smh.    Tea-Partiers love Perry and he certainly put on a show for them last night. But that AIN'T good news for the GOP. Yes, it was ONE debate and he could improve by his next debate_I don't think he will. But here's the thing: It was his FIRST debate on the National stage and the man utterly FAILED to grasp the importance of being PREPARED for that moment. If Perry wins the GOP nomination, Pres. Obama should get down on his knees and THANK his Higher Power for such a magnificent gift because I have NO doubt that Perry would be an absolute DISASTER in the general election     Btw: Bachmann was totally irrelevant…to the point that at times I forgot she was there. Ed Rollns knows she's done which is why his "health problems" and "age" suddenly became reasons for him to head for the nearest Exit. But back to Mitt & Rick.Whoever the Repub base chooses as their party's Presidential nominee will signal the future direction of the GOP.  Gonna be interesting.
