The political and socialite worlds are still in shock after hearing of the unexpected death of Ivana Trump, who passed away on Thursday.

Ivana is the former wife of Donald Trump and mother of Donald Jr., Ivanka, and Eric Trump. However, she is best remembered as helping to build the Trump real estate empire and as one-half of New York’s quintessential 1980s power couple.
It was Donald Trump who took to his Truth Social network to announce her death:
“I am very saddened to inform all of those that loved her, of which there are many, that Ivana Trump has passed away at her home in New York City,” he wrote. “She was a wonderful, beautiful, and amazing woman, who led a great and inspirational life. Her pride and joy were her three children, Donald Jr., Ivanka, and Eric. She was so proud of them, as we were all so proud of her. Rest In Peace, Ivana!”
Following news of her death, her children issued a statement.
“Our mother was an incredible woman — a force in business, a world-class athlete, a radiant beauty, and caring mother and friend,” the Trump children said. “Ivana Trump was a survivor. She fled from communism and embraced this country. She taught her children about grit and toughness, compassion and determination,” the family added. “She will be dearly missed by her mother, her three children, and ten grandchildren.”
According to The New York Times, the former Mrs. Trump commanded almost as much media attention as her husband as they helped define the 1980s as an era of gaudy excess among the social elite. Interestingly, she is also the one who gave him the nickname ‘The Donald.’
Ivana and Donald divorced in 1990 after he was caught having an affair with Marla Maples, whom he later married. The divorce turned her into somewhat of a heroine for scorned wives everywhere — and led to her garnering a cameo in the 1996 film “The First Wives Club,” in which she tells a group of disgruntled divorced women, “Don’t get mad — get everything!”
ABC News is reporting that paramedics responded to a 911 call of a woman at Ivana’s Upper East Side Manhattan apartment in cardiac arrest on Thursday afternoon. The belief is that she either fell down the stairs or collapsed at the foot of the stairs from a heart attack, although no official cause of death has been announced.
Ivana Trump was 73.
