It’s the story everybody’s been talking about: the verbal beatdown of GOP/MAGA Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene by Democratic Rep. Jasmine Crockett.

Rep. Greene (also known as “MTG”) of Georgia was elected to Congress in 2020 without fully understanding how the US House of Representatives or the 3 branches of government work. She expected her mere presence would always guarantee her getting her way and has a penchant for delivering wildly offensive sound bites meant to impress Donald Trump and the MAGA movement.
Democratic Rep. Jasmine Crockett of Texas claimed her seat in Congress in 2021 and represents most of South Dallas County, central Dallas, the Dallas Love Field Airport area, and parts of Tarrant County.
It’s also worth noting that MTG is White (and presumed to be racist) and Ms. Crockett is Black.
Now, if you’ve been living on the dark side of the moon, you’re probably unaware that Jasmine Crockett and MTG got into a verbal scuffle on Thursday during a congressional committee meeting. That meeting has since gone viral and sent everyone doubling over with laughter.
During an ordinary House Oversight Committee meeting last week, Rep. Crockett challenged MTG for derailing a discussion about Attorney General Merrick Garland with an unrelated accusation against Democrats. Being her usually ‘classy’ self, Greene took offense to the Black woman daring to challenge her and decided to deliver a personal jab that likely prompted the MAGA crowd to shoot their guns with glee.
“I think your fake eyelashes are messing up what you’re reading,” MTG said while taking aim at the congresswoman and her “ethnic” personal appearance.
The snide remark immediately infuriated Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York and sent her into action to defend her colleague.
“That is absolutely unacceptable. How dare you attack the physical appearance of another person,” Ocasio-Cortez shouted while demanding an apology.
“Awww. Are your feelings hurt?” MTG responded in a taunting tone.
“Oh, girl? Baby girl, Don’t even play,” Ocasio-Cortez hit back.
The raised voices and out-of-control banter sent GOP committee chairman, Rep. James Comer of Kentucky, into a frenzy to demand order.
Reps. Ocasio-Cortez and Jamie Raskin (the ranking Democrat on the committee) asked to have MTG’s words stricken from the record. She obliged. They then asked her to apologize for the unnecessary personal attack against Ms. Crockett. She refused.
“You will never get an apology out of me,” MTG bragged for the cameras.
It was at that moment that the line of the year was delivered for all the world to hear.
Rep. Jasmine Crockett listened carefully to Chairman Comer rebuke all forms of personal attacks between members of Congress. She then calmly asked for a point of clarification.
“I’m just curious, just to better understand your ruling,” Ms. Crockett said. “If someone on this committee then starts talking about somebody’s ‘bleach blond, bad-built butch body,’ that would not be engaging in personalities, correct?”
The committee room roared with laughter at the return attack delivered by Crockett, while MTG sat in embarrassment from the stinging retort.
The Jasmine Crockett verbal beatdown against Marjorie Taylor Greene immediately went viral across all forms of social media. It nearly broke Twitter, prompted musical remixes of the “Butch Body” line, and was all anyone could talk about over the weekend from coast to coast.
However, the surprise came when Republican members of Congress came out against MTG and her trailer park trash talk.
GOP Rep. Lauren Boebert of Colorado (who has been feuding with MTG) denounced her Republican cohort and said she was “making other Republicans look bad” with her bad behavior.
“It was embarrassing what was going on,” Boebert said on Capitol Hill. “I couldn’t bring myself to stand in defense of that. I wouldn’t do it for the other side.”
House Speaker Mike Johnson also weighed in on the fracas, saying he thought Greene’s outburst was “not a good look for Congress.”
Over the weekend, Rep. Jasmine Crockett spoke to the media about the mischievous melee.
“It was absolutely a racist thing. MAGA has been trolling on social media for a while and it’s a way of them basically calling me ghetto and things like that, because of my hair and my lashes and my nails,” she said in an interview.
“It’s almost like, well, we don’t have anything intelligent to counter that with. So instead, we’ll be racist and we’ll attack her and go after her looks. Which, frankly, I am not lacking in my confidence about my looks…. but they do it all the time,” she continued. “So I think this was just a fundraising ploy for her and it’s also just her brand. Her brand is chaos and ignoring the rules.
“I asked for clarification about what qualifies as ‘engaging in personalities’ and basically wanted to know if I could talk sh*t about her appearance as well. Y’all know what she looks like, right?” Crockett added. “PEOPLE IN GLASS HOUSES! This is what happens when mentally deficient people who can’t read and follow rules or just don’t give a damn… somehow end up in CONGRESS!”
