JAY WANTS THE OLD SHOW BACK!
Remember over the summer when Jay Leno retired from The Tonight Show with Jay Leno amidst great fanfare, while Conan O’Brien took over as the new host? Well, now there’s word out of beautiful downtown Burbank that Jay is having second thoughts about his decision to step aside.
OK WASSUP! Back in June, Jay stepped aside, Conan stepped in, and NBC moved Jay to his own comedy hour in the 10pm slot. Genius right? WRONG! While the new Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien has suffered from identity problems and lukewarm ratings, the new Jay Leno Show is basically a retread of the old Tonight Show with Jay Leno — but one hour earlier. Jay still wears a business suit. Jay still starts the show with a monologue. Jay still has Kevin Eubanks and the old band. And Jay is still doing the same comedy bits from before. The only noticeable changes are a slightly updated set and no desk for Jay to sit at. Coincidence? A screw up? Or part of a bigger plan? Hmmm…
Well get this: while Conan continues to struggle as the new host of the iconic late night show, Jay let it be known ever so subtly (sarcasm) on Monday that he’s not necessarily happy in the 10pm time slot — AND if NBC wants, he’d be happy to send Conan packing and take over The Tonight Show at 11:30pm once again! OUCH!
Well take THAT Conan O’Brien. Talk about a stab in the back. Jay is feenin’ for your job, so watch your back. This could get ugly!
I've seen Jays show and its pretty bad. Conan isn't so great either. If I'm up that late I turn on David Letterman before Conan. But after the mess between Jay and Dave many years ago on NBC this could be karma payback for Jay.He left. He should move on. And he should stop making his new show like the old one
