The Bush family plan was for Jeb Bush to follow in his father’s footsteps and be the next Bush to reside in the White House — that is until (then popular) Texas Gov. George W. Bush was recruited to run by the GOP and went on to a disastrous serve 2 terms as president. Now, the Bush family is said to be angling for a return to the original plan and to see Jeb serve his time in the Oval Office.
Former President George H.W. Bush has made it known that he would love for Jeb to run in 2016 and become the 3rd President Bush. Despite recent remarks to the contrary by former First Lady Barbara Bush, who said she thinks America “has seen enough of the Bushes,” not everyone named Bush shares that mentality. Both George H.W. and George W. have gone on record as saying they hope Jeb runs.
According to Jeb, he’s staying mum on his future plans. “My thinking is not to think about it for a year,” Jeb said recently. “Life teaches you that you need to make decisions in the right time—not too early, not too late. … I’ll check in maybe a year from now, 15 months from now, something like that.”
Should Jeb stick with the family business and run for the White House, or is Barbara right in saying that we’ve all seen ENOUGH of the Bushes?
